A step coverage does not exist between an etched edge surface of the semiconductor pattern disposed at a lower portion of the data line and an etched edge surface of the data line.

    摘要: A method of manufacturing an active panel of a liquid crystal display reduces the steps of a masking process and prevents line disconnection of a conductive material forming a pixel electrode which is caused by undercutting and eliminates a stepped profile formed during the etching processes. Materials forming a gate insulating layer, a semiconductor layer, an impurity doped semiconductor layer, and source and drain electrodes are sequentially deposited on a substrate. The source and drain electrodes are formed. Then, the semiconductor layer and the gate insulating layer are simultaneously formed. Thus, the mask processes in the method are reduced. However, this method results in a severe stepped profile caused by simultaneously etching the materials under the source and drain electrodes during the step of forming the source and drain electrode. As a result, line disconnection occurs due to the stepped profile during the forming step of a pixel electrode. In order to prevent this problem, a protection layer made of an organic material is formed prior to the step of forming the pixel electrode, resulting in a smooth surface and elimination of line disconnecting.

    摘要: A method for manufacturing a liquid crystal display has a TFT functioning as a switching elements, a passivation layer covering the TFT and a pixel electrode connected to an output electrode of the TFT on the passivation layer. The method includes coating a photoresist on the passivation layer so that the photoresist has a thickness of more than about 1.2 times the passivation layer. The photoresist is patterned to have a predetermined shape, and the passivation layer is etched according to the patterned photoresist. The remaining photoresist is removed, and treating the surface of the passivation layer with O2 yields a SiO2 thin layer on the passivation layer. A pixel electrode is formed on the passivation layer by depositing and patterning an ITO layer.

    摘要: The present invention is to provide a manufacturing method and a structure of an LCD which prevents a pixel electrode from being disconnected or being peeled off thinly from the drain electrode. The bottom plate of an active matrix type LCD comprises a protection layer which covers the switching element, a contact hole for exposing the output terminal of the switching element through the protection layer and the pixel electrode which contacts the output terminal of the switching element through the contact hole and which is formed on the protection layer. Specifically, the contact hole is located in a distance of at least 5 &mgr;m inwards from the edge of the pixel electrode. Therefore, disconnection or peel off of the pixel electrode from the drain electrode due to cracking of the pixel electrode occurring during the process of baking at a high temperature is prevented.
