    Abstract: Provided is an air conditioning apparatus. The air conditioning apparatus includes a heat exchanger in which the refrigerant and the water are heat-exchanged with each other, a high-pressure guide tube extending from a high-pressure gas tube of an outdoor unit so as to be connected to one side of the heat exchanger, a low-pressure guide tube extending from a low-pressure gas tube of the outdoor unit so as to be combined with the high-pressure guide tube, a liquid guide tube extending from a liquid tube of the outdoor unit so as to be connected to the other side of the heat exchanger, a bypass tube configured to connect a bypass branch point of the high-pressure gas tube to a bypass combination point of the liquid guide tube to bypass a high-pressure refrigerant existing in the high-pressure tube to the liquid guide tube, and a bypass valve installed in the bypass tube.

    Abstract: An air conditioning apparatus includes a heat exchange device that connects an outdoor unit to an indoor unit and that includes a heat exchanger configured to perform heat exchange between refrigerant and water, thereby reducing an amount of refrigerant used to perform a cooling operation or a heating operation. The apparatus further includes a switching mechanism that connects the outdoor unit to the heat exchange device and that is configured to be connected to both a simultaneous outdoor unit and a switchable outdoor unit to thereby allow the heat exchange device to be installed regardless of the type of the outdoor unit.

    Abstract: An air conditioner is provided that may include an outdoor unit having a compressor configured to compress a refrigerant; at least one indoor unit having an indoor heat exchanger, in which the refrigerant is heat exchanged, an indoor expansion valve that expands the refrigerant by adjusting an opening thereof, and a leak sensor that senses leakage of the refrigerant; a gaseous line that connects the outdoor unit and the at least one indoor unit and through which gaseous refrigerant flows; a liquid line that connects the outdoor unit and the at least one indoor unit and through which liquid refrigerant flows; a first shut-off valve disposed adjacent to the at least one indoor unit that opens and closes the gaseous line; a second shut-off valve disposed adjacent to the at least one indoor unit that opens and closes the liquid line; a supercooling pipe branched from the liquid line and connected to an inlet of the compressor; a supercooling expansion valve that expands refrigerant, flowing through the supercooling pipe, by adjusting an opening thereof; and a controller configured to control operation of the compressor and to control opening and closing of the first shut-off valve, the second shut-off valve, the indoor expansion valve, and the supercooling expansion valve. When the leak sensor senses the leakage of the refrigerant, the controller closes the first shut-off valve and the second shut-off valve.

    Abstract: An air conditioner and a method of controlling the same are provided. The air conditioner includes an outside unit, which is provided with a compressor and an evaporator, an outside temperature sensor attached to the outside unit to sense outside temperature, an outside humidity recognition part attached to the outside unit to recognize information about outside humidity, a low pressure sensor that senses an evaporation pressure of the evaporator, and a control part that controls an operation of the compressor, based on both information about dew-point temperature sensed from the outside temperature sensor and the outside humidity recognition part and information about the evaporation pressure sensed from the low pressure sensor. The control part changes an operation frequency of the compressor according to whether the evaporation pressure is not lower than a preset reference low pressure, to prevent frosting of the evaporator.
