Abstract: A method of manufacturing a lithium secondary battery includes (1) mixing a transition metal precursor and a lithium source material and then sintering the mixture to prepare a lithium composite transition metal oxide, (2) mixing the lithium composite transition metal oxide with a cobalt-containing raw material and heat-treating the mixture at 550° C. to 700° C. to form a cobalt coating layer on the oxide, (3) mixing the lithium composite transition metal oxide on which the cobalt coating layer is formed with a boron-containing raw material and heat-treating the mixture at 400° C. to 500° C. to prepare a positive electrode active material including a boron coating layer, (4) applying the positive electrode active material onto a positive electrode current collector to prepare a positive electrode, and (5) assembling the positive electrode, the negative electrode including a silicon-based negative electrode active material, and a separator, and injecting an electrolyte.

Abstract: In one arrangement, the present disclosure relates to a positive electrode active material including a nickel-cobalt-manganese-based lithium transition metal oxide which contains nickel in an amount of 60 mol % or more based on a total number of moles of metals excluding lithium, wherein the nickel-cobalt-manganese-based lithium transition metal oxide is doped with doping element M1 (where the doping element M1 is a metallic element including Al) and doping element M2 (where the doping element M2 is at least one metallic element selected from the group consisting of Mg, La, Ti, Zn, B, W, Ni, Co, Fe, Cr, V, Ru, Cu, Cd, Ag, Y, Sc, Ga, In, As, Sb, Pt, Au, and Si), where the doping element M1 can be in an amount of 100 ppm to 10,000 ppm, and the doping element M1 and the doping element M2 are included in a weight ratio of 50:50 to 99:1.

Abstract: A positive electrode material for a lithium secondary battery includes a first positive electrode active material and a second positive electrode active material, both of which are lithium composite transition metal oxides containing transition metals. The first positive electrode active material has a larger average particle size (D50) than the second positive electrode active material, wherein a ratio (Li/Me)1 of the mole number of lithium with respect to the total mole number of transition metals of the first positive electrode active material is more than 1 to 1.5 or less, and a ratio (Li/Me)2 of the mole number of lithium (Li) with respect to the total mole number of transition metals of the second positive electrode active material is 0.9 to 1. The second positive electrode active material has a crystallite size of 180 nm or more.

Abstract: An additive for a positive electrode of a lithium secondary battery, the additive including a lithium transition metal oxide, Li3PO4, Li5AlO4 and Li3BO3. The lithium transition metal oxide has an aluminum-doped form. The additive including Li3PO4, Li5AlO4 and Li3BO3 together with the lithium transition metal oxide has functionality of improving stability of a battery when used in a positive electrode of a lithium secondary battery. The Li3PO4, the Li5AlO4 and the Li3BO3 are evenly mixed with the lithium transition metal oxide or some thereof form a partial coating layer, or a portion of aluminum is doped to the lithium transition metal oxide to suppress the lithium transition metal oxide from causing a side reaction with an electrolyte liquid.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a positive electrode active material having low nickel disorder and high particle strength in a crystal structure, and capable of implementing a battery having excellent capacity properties and capacity retention, and a positive electrode and a lithium secondary battery including the same, wherein the positive electrode active material includes a large-diameter lithium transition metal oxide and a small-diameter lithium transition metal oxide whose average particle diameter (D50) is smaller than that of the large-diameter lithium transition metal oxide, wherein the large-diameter lithium transition metal oxide and the small-diameter lithium transition metal oxide each independently have a composition represented by Formula 1, and has a crystal grain size of 100 nm to 150 nm, wherein the difference in crystal grain size between the large-diameter lithium transition metal oxide and the small-diameter lithium transition metal oxide is less than 40 nm, and the positive electrode active material has a nickel disorder (Ni-disorder) of 1.5% or less.
