Provided is a laundry treating apparatus comprising a drum including: a drum body defining a space to store laundry therein, a front cover, a rear cover, and a drum introduction opening defined at the front cover and configured to communicate with an inside of the drum body; a drying unit configured to supply heated air to the drum body; a fixing panel; a power transmission unit including: a housing, an input shaft, an output shaft, and a gear unit disposed in the housing and configured to transmit rotational motion of the input shaft to the output shaft; a motor comprising including: a stator, and a rotor; and a heat insulation part made of a material having heat conductivity lower than heat conductivity of the housing and configured to reduce an amount of heat that is transferred from the outside of the housing to an inside of the housing.

The laundry treating apparatus includes a door to open and close the introduction port about a first rotational or a second rotational axis which is different from first rotational axis. A first switching unit is provided in the door to allow rotation of door about the first rotational axis, and a second switching unit is provided in the door to allow rotation of the door about the second rotational axis. A lock fixes a position of at least one of the first switching unit or second switching unit when the door opens the introduction port. A damper is also provided. As can be appreciated, the mechanism used for the laundry apparatus may be applicable to other home appliances or non-home appliances where two different rotational axes may be needed to open and close a door.

Provided is a laundry treatment machine which may include at least one hinge that supports a lid on a main body. The hinge may include a hinge housing, an elastic member disposed inside the hinge housing, and a pair of cams disposed in the housing to move in linkage with the lid and the elastic member. The cams may include contact surfaces that are inclined relative to each other in an axial direction of the cams, and when a contact surface of one of the cams slides along a contact surface of the other cam, a distance between the pair of cams may be changed to deform the elastic member. The contact surface of at least one of the cams may be divided into at least three sections by a prescribed angular range along the circumferential direction, each of the three sections having a separate contact surface.

The driver includes a driving motor including a stator and a rotor, a bearing housing installed at a lower portion of the tub, a dewatering shaft having a lower end disposed adjacent to the rotor and an upper end connected to the drum, a coupler configured to selectively connect the dewatering shaft to the rotor while lifting along an outer circumferential surface of the lower end of the dewatering shaft, a washing shaft positioned inside the dewatering shaft, and an anti-friction member inserted between the dewatering shaft and the washing shaft.

Provided is a laundry treatment machine. The laundry treatment machine may include a main body, a lid, and at least one hinge that supports the lid. The hinge may include a hinge housing filled with a fluid having a prescribed viscosity, an elastic member disposed inside the hinge housing, and a pair of cams disposed in the housing to move in linkage with the lid and the elastic member. A piston may be disposed between the moving cam and the elastic member to deform the elastic member according to a displacement of the moving cam. The piston may divide a cavity inside the hinge housing into a first space in which the elastic member is disposed and a second space in which the pair of cams are disposed. The piston may include a passage for the fluid to flow between the first space and the second space.
