Apparatuses and mobile stations are described which provide packet data services in TDMA (Time Division Multiple Access) cellular systems, based on providing shared packet data channels optimized for packet data. A first "integrated" embodiment utilizes the current cellular infrastructure to the extent possible consistent with functional and performance requirements. Shared packet data channels in base stations may be provided dynamically determined by demand. A packet data controller in each Mobile services Switching Center controls access to the packet data services. A packet data router in each MSC routes packets to and from the MSC service area. A backbone network interconnects packet data routers and Interworking Functions providing internetworking with external network(s). A second "separate" embodiment, in order to minimize the impact on the current cellular system, primarily utilizes the base station portion of the cellular system, relying for the remaining network parts on a separate mobile packet data infrastructure.

In a method of enabling Digital Rights Management (DRM) of content in a communications network supporting a DRM system a first user equipment (RMUE), is registering with a first rights issuer of the DRM system from which a delegation assertion, authorizing the RMUE to become a private rights issuer, is retrieved. RMUE retrieves a first, signed rights object from the first rights issuer, that contains a first set of rights for the RMUE to DRM protect private content and to issue at least one second rights object, associated with the private content. DRM protection is then applied on private content, obtained by the RMUE, according to at least the first set of rights. RMUE issues a second rights object, defining a second set of rights for rendering the private content, according to the first set of rights. RMUE may then distribute the second rights object to a second user equipment which is able to render the private content on the basis of at least said second rights object, upon having acquired the private content and the delegate assertion.

A method and arrangement for establishing a packet-switched multimedia session for a mobile terminal connected to a mobile access network. A first Radio Access Bearer RAB is obtained, and the multimedia session is started by communicating media over the first RAB. Simultaneously with the media communication, a quality of communicated media is monitored and evaluated. If the monitored quality is deemed unacceptable, a media-adapted second RAB is obtained, and the session is continued over the second RAB. Thereby, it is not necessary to delay the communication of media by waiting for the second RAB to be obtained.

A method and system are disclosed for use with a mobile radio network, which receives and analyzes packets from a packet-switched fixed network, such as the Internet, and depending on the type of information received (e.g., speech, low speed data, or high speed WWW data), routes the information over an appropriate radio air interface to a mobile radio terminal. The speech information can be routed to mobile radio terminals over a conventional circuit-switched mobile radio link (e.g., a GSM traffic channel), the low speed data can be routed over a packet-switched mobile radio link (e.g., a GPRS traffic data channel), and the high speed data can be routed over a wideband broadcast radio link (e.g., a DAB network radio link). As a result, mobile radio terminals can advantageously enjoy full access to the Internet and thereby communicate effectively over the Internet with other mobile and wire-bound terminals.

A method and arrangement for providing security when an IMS client purchases content from a content or service provider, the IMS client having a unique IMS identity registered with a first IMS operator. A second IMS operator assigns a unique IMS identity to the content or service provider which is authenticated based on the assigned IMS identity. The validity of the IMS client is then verified towards the content or service provider, based on a mutual interconnect agreement between the first and second IMS operators, in response to a purchase request from the IMS client. The content or service provider can then also be validated towards the IMS client.

In one aspect of the present invention the arrangement comprises a database adapted to store and publish at least one identifier selected by the user, a content manager, adapted to associate the at least one selected identifier with the SIP URI of the user, and a search engine, adapted to search for a SIP URI in the database via the associated published selected identifier and to act as an interface between different SIP provider domains.

This broker has in turn relations to a number of other operators. The content provider provides the communication content. A list of targeted users or subscribers is compiled by the broker. Preferably, the broker collects necessary subscriber attributes, such as position, device information and access properties, from the other operators. The communication content is preferably modified according to the collected attributes and the content can subsequently be delivered to the subscribers in a best possible way. The broker collects payment from the subscribers and reimburses the media content supplier. In a first aspect, the broker is a distributor and payment administrator for service content. In another aspect, the broker is a mediator of use of inter-operator relations to a third-party content provider.

A system and method for routing an incoming telephone call to a mobile terminal (106) which is a combined cordless phone and mobile phone. The call will be connected over either a fixed network (104) or a mobile network (102) depending on whether the mobile terminal is within or out of radio coverage of a home base station (110) connected to the fixed network. The call is routed in response to a routing indication which is included in the called number of the mobile terminal depending on the location of the mobile terminal. In this way, network operators may direct calls over the fixed network in preference to the mobile network, thereby relieving the mobile network. A single telephone number can also be used for the combined cordless phone and mobile phone.
