    摘要: Polyvinyl alcohol based release coating compositions for strippable substrates which are in contact with pressure sensitive adhesives are disclosed. Substrates coated with the release compositions are easily peeled from pressure sensitive adhesive coated substrates without substantially adversely affecting the adhesive character of the adhesive coated substrate. The release coating composition comprises polyvinyl alcohol, a migratable release promoting agent, a water soluble salt of a coordinating metal and a water soluble boron compound in an aqueous solution. In addition to composites comprising release coated substrates affixed to adhesive coated substrates, the release compositions can be applied to the backing of a pressure sensitive adhesive tape to permit facile uncoiling of the rolled tape product.

    摘要: This invention relates to an improvement for reducing the amount of wall fouling in the suspension polymerization of vinyl chloride. The improvement resides in wetting the reactor surface with a solution containing selenous acid prior to charging the vinyl chloride recipe to the reactor. Preferably, the surface of the resulting reactor is heated at a temperature of from 40.degree.-100.degree. C. prior to charging the recipe.

    摘要: Migration-resistant binder compositions for bonding nonwoven fibers are disclosed. These compositions comprise (A) an anionically-stabilized polymer latex; (B) a water-soluble polymer of 20-100% by weight of mer units containing an amine group and having a viscosity average molecular weight between 5,000 and 300,000; and (C) a volatile base. Usually, the compositions have a solids content between 10% and 60% by weight, a viscosity below 3,000 centipoise, a pH above 5, and a component (B) content between 0.1% and 20% by weight of the solids. In alternative compositions, component (B) is replaced by component (B'), a water-insoluble polymer with the same amine group content and a viscosity average molecular weight between 5,000 and 100,000.

    摘要: A modified poly(vinyl alcohol) copolymer is provided containing copolymerized units of allylamine and/or diallylamine by copolymerizing a vinyl ester, such as vinyl acetate, and an N-allylamide and/or N,N-diallylamide, such as N-allylformamide and/or N,N-diallylformamide and hydrolyzing first the ester groups to hydroxy groups and then the amide groups to amine groups. The second hydrolysis is carried out on solvent-swollen particulate polymer slurried in an acidic or basic medium. The modified polymer can contain small amounts of unhydrolyzed ester and amide groups in addition to the hydroxy and amine functionality which characterizes the copolymer.
