    摘要: The overflow tube and ball valve of a conventional water tank are replaced with a collapsible tube, one end of which is located above the water outlet of the tank, and the other end of which is located above the water line in the tank and able to be compressed to allow water to flow through the tube thereby flushing the tank. The volume of water expelled from the tank is controlled by choosing an appropriate amount of compression. The compressed tube returns to its original height after flushing. In one embodiment of the invention, a handle on the exterior of the tank cover is used to compress the tube in a plunger-like motion. The handle is provided with markings corresponding to the amount of water flushed for a given vertical displacement of the handle. In another embodiment of the invention, a lever is positioned on the front wall of the tank and is able to cause rotation of a cantilever beam. At the free end of the beam is a connection to a vertical rod which is depressed by rotation of the lever. The vertical rod is attached to the upper end of the collapsible tube, and thus compresses same and causes the tank to flush. In this embodiment of the invention, the front wall of the tank is marked in such a manner as to enable a user to choose a suitable volume of water for flushing.

    摘要: This invention concerns a traveling wave amplifier of pillbox configurationhat can be made for battery operation. It has a high perveance cylindrical electron gun between closely spaced, parallel, flat surfaces of a pair of thin ceramic disks sealed at their perimeters to a conductive collector ring coaxial with the electron gun. One or both of the disks support a novel planar slow wave circuit. The slow wave circuit is termed a ring-bar circuit but differs from cylindrical ring-bar structures. It includes a series of concentric conductive rings. Along one diameter of the rings, to one side of the center of the rings, the first and second, third and fourth, fifth and sixth rings, etc., are conductively connected, and to the other side of the center of the rings, the second and third, fourth and fifth, sixth and seventh rings, etc., are conductively connected. RF feed connections are made to the first and last rings of the slow wave circuit opposite their connections to the second and next to last rings, respectively. A ring-bar circuit is printed on the inside surface of one or both of the ceramic disks or is constructed of wire and ribbon and is supported by the disk(s). If only one disk supports a ring-bar circuit, the other disk carriers a flat annular conductor of the same inner and outer diameters as the ring-bar circuit. If needed, focusing magnets are supported contiguous the outer surfaces of the disks. This invention can be made for operation with band-width as low as 2% and at high efficiency.

    摘要: The combination of a photoconductive switch coupled to an energy storage ice wherein the switch is comprised of photoconductive semiconductor material while the energy storage device comprises a radio transmission line including a different material, i.e. a dielectric storage medium. A photoconductive semiconductor gallium arsenide switch is embedded in a circular disc of dielectric material with upper and lower layers of continuous radial metallization configured in a circular pattern located thereon. The upper layer of metallization includes an apertured grid adjacent one surface of the switch, while the outer conductor of a coaxial output signal line is connected to the metallization layer on the opposite side with the inner conductor thereof passing through the dielectric layer to the undersurface of the semiconductor switch. A variation comprises the upper and lower metallization layers being formed in the shape of a plurality of discrete straight line segments or strips which extend radially outward from the center and thus forms a quasi-radial structure.

    摘要: An electromagnetic railgun launcher and armature. The armature is made from superconducting material and is levitated between the rails of the launcher by the Meissner effect. The Meissner effect is created by cooling the armature and subjecting it to a magnetic field. The armature configuration has a closed loop topology and defines two planes - one plane coincides with the plane of the rails; the other plane is oblique to the first. The armature configuration, when placed between the rails receives an unbalanced Lorentz force which accelerates the armature.

    摘要: An electromagnetic railgun. The device features two electrically connectedarallel rails. One end of each rail may be connected to a D.C. voltage source. At least one of the rails has a hole for closely receiving a metallic projectile. When the projectile is within the hole and the voltage is applied, currents flow through the two rails. Interaction of the currents with the self generated magnetic field causes a repulsive force between the two rails and launches the projectile outward from the rails.

    摘要: A traveling wave type amplifier. The device features a pair of short helical input and output couplers through which an electron beam is projected. Application of an RF signal to the couplers serves to modulate the electron beam. A drift tube to be positioned between the couplers is dimensioned to attenuate the RF signal while permitting the modulated electron beam to pass through. An amplified output signal is extracted from the output helix. Gain of the tube is enhanced by a linearly decreasing magnetic focussing field.
