There are described a new class of organic dyes containing silane groups, the composite pigments obtainable therefrom by associating them with a substrate (SiO.sub.2, TiO.sub.2, Al.sub.2 O.sub.3), and the processes for preparing same.The silane organic dyes have the formula (I): ##STR1## wherein all substituents are defined later. The silane dyes (I) are utilized per se for dyeing natural fibres, such as wool, and man-made fibres, such as the polyamide, polyester, polyacrylic fibres and the like, while the composite pigments prepared from said dyes by association with an inorganic substrate are employed in paints, air enamels and stoving enamels, in the pigmentation of plastics, in the inks, in the printing of textiles etc.

New greenish-yellow pigments based on BiVO.sub.4 are disclosed. The pigments consist of the product obtained by the calcination, in the presence of air, of a mixture of BiPO.sub.4, V.sub.2 O.sub.5 and an oxide MeO, in which Me is Ca, Ba, Mg or Zn, said calcining being conducted at a temperature of between 500.degree. and 800.degree. C. when Me is Ca, Ba or Mg; and between 500.degree. and 700.degree. C. when Me is Zn, the calcination being then followed by a slow cooling down and by wet grinding. These pigments show a molar ratio Bi.sub.2 O.sub.3 /P.sub.2 O.sub.5 equal to 1 while their molar ratios Bi.sub.2 O.sub.3 /V.sub.2 O.sub.5 are within given ranges, which depend on the nature of Me.

A method is described for improving the catalytic performances of titanium silicalite having formula (I) by the activation of the catalyst (I) in an aqueous medium with hydrogen peroxide, in the presence of precursors of fluoride ions or anionic species containing fluorine. The activated catalyst (I) is particularly useful in oxidation processes with hydrogen peroxide of organic substrates and, in particular, in hydroxylation reactions of aromatic compounds, amoximation reactions of carbonyl compounds, epoxidation reactions of olefinic compounds and oxidation reactions of nitrogenated compounds.

The present invention relates to silica/zeolite composite materials in spherical form and the process for their preparation which occurs by the dispersion of submicronic particles of titanium silicalite, beta zeolite, or mixtures of beta zeolite with titanium silicalite, in a silica sol synthesized by acid hydrolysis of silicon alkoxides; the hybrid sol thus obtained, subjected to emulsification and gelation techniques in organic mediums, produces these materials in a spherical form with an average diameter of between 20 and 150 .mu.m and containing up to 70% by weight of titanium silicalite, beta zeolite or mixtures of titanium silicalite/beta zeolite.The materials of the invention, having a high mechanical resistance and characterized by a surface area of between 300 and 800 m.sup.2 /g, are applied as catalysts; in particular, those consisting of titanium silicalite or mixtures of titanium silicalite/beta zeolite are advantageously used in oxidation reactions of organic compounds with hydrogen peroxide.
