摘要: A system and method for an automatic retry method during initial registration and re-registration of a mobile device on a mobile Internet Protocol (MIP) network is provided. The mobile device is adapted to categorise a registration response (RRP) code and accordingly determine a course of action. By reacting intelligently to the RRP code category, the mobile device is able to maintain a point to point protocol (PPP) connectivity and achieve “always-on” status.

摘要: A method for eliminating voicemail notifications on a wireless device for a voicemail message that a user has previously been notified of, comprising the steps of: storing information on the wireless device about the voicemail message; comparing incoming information of a new voicemail notification received by the wireless device against the information stored in the storing step; and notifying the user of the voicemail message only if the incoming information differs from the information stored in the storing step.

摘要: Methods, mobile stations and networks are provided that cause a packet data service reconnect to be performed automatically after the occurrence of an event triggering registration, even in some circumstances where such a data service reconnect would not normally occur. This avoids complications that can arise due to the packet data service being discontinued upon registration and the resulting inability to reach the mobile station.

摘要: Methods and apparatus for prioritizing voice call requests during data communication sessions involving a mobile communication device are disclosed. In one illustrative example, an end user invokes a voice call request though a user interface of the mobile device. If this request is made while the mobile device is engaged in a connected data communication service, the mobile device immediately forces the connected data service into a dormant state. In particular, a release order is transmitted to tear down a traffic channel of the connected data service so that the voice call request can be processed. Subsequently, a voice call with the mobile device is established using a new traffic channel. When the voice call is completed, data communications will resume if needed. Advantageously, the mobile device prioritizes voice calls over data communication sessions which may be deemed less time-critical.

摘要: Methods are provided for transitioning between SIP and MIP. Mobile devices, upon detecting a new system, automatically attempt a MIP session to avoid the default position of SIP. A history is maintained of systems visited, and for systems that did not support MIP in the past, a MIP session is not attempted, but rather SIP is initiated from the start.

摘要: A system and method of notifying a user of events in a customizable manner during and not during a voice call is provided. According to one aspect, the notifications are configurable to be dependant on whether or not there is an active voice call. Notifications may also be configured to be different depending on whether or not the wireless device is inside a device holster. Notifications can be configured to be different for different events so that the user may be able to associate certain notifications with certain events. The user can also configure the type of events that trigger notification. Notifications include any combination of audible cues, visual cues, and vibration cues.

摘要: A NERS-active structure includes a deformable, active nanoparticle support structure for supporting a first nanoparticle and a second nanoparticle that is disposed proximate the first nanoparticle. The nanoparticles each comprise a NERS-active material. The deformable, active nanoparticle support structure is configured to vary the distance between the first nanoparticle and the second nanoparticle while performing NERS. Various active nanoparticle support structures are disclosed. A NERS system includes such a NERS-active structure, a radiation source for generating radiation scatterable by an analyte located proximate the NERS-active structure, and a radiation detector for detecting Raman scattered radiation scattered by the analyte. A method for performing NERS includes providing such a NERS-active structure, providing an analyte at a location proximate the NERS-active structure, irradiating the NERS-active structure and the analyte with radiation, varying the distance between the nanoparticles, and detecting Raman scattered radiation scattered by the analyte.

摘要: A nano-colonnade VCSEL device and a method of fabrication utilize a nanowire column grown nearly vertically from a (111) horizontal surface of a first layer to another horizontal surface of a second layer to connect the layers. The VCSEL device includes a first layer having the (111) horizontal surface; a second layer; and an insulator support between the first layer and the second layer that separates the first layer from the second layer. A portion of the second layer overhangs the insulator support, such that a horizontal surface of the overhanging portion is spaced from and faces the (111) horizontal surface of the first layer. The VCSEL device further includes a nanowire column extending nearly vertically from the (111) horizontal surface to the facing horizontal surface, and distributed Bragg mirrors adjacent to opposite end of the nanowire column.
