Abstract: A vision system for a vehicle includes at least one camera disposed at a vehicle and having an image sensor operable to capture image data. A display is operable to display video images for viewing by a driver of the vehicle during normal operation of the vehicle. A first system on chip (SoC) receives captured image data and processes the received captured image data for machine vision. The first SoC, responsive to image processing of the received captured image data, generates an output for a driver assistance system of the vehicle. A second system on chip (SoC) receives captured image data and communicates the image data to the display.

Abstract: A vehicular camera includes a lens, an image processor configured to receive images from the lens, and a microcontroller containing flash memory. The microcontroller is connected to the image processor by a first bus through which command data is communicated to the image processor from the microcontroller. The command data includes application instructions to draw application data from a selected point in the flash memory. The microcontroller is connected to the image processor by a second bus through which application data is communicated to the image processor from the flash memory.

A first system on chip (SoC) includes an image signal processor that receives captured image data and converts the received image data to converted data that is in a format suitable for machine vision processing. A second system on chip (SoC) receives captured image data and communicates display data to a display disposed in the vehicle, with the display data being in a format suitable for display of video images at the display. At startup of the vehicle, video images derived from the display data are displayed by the display within a time period following startup of the vehicle and machine vision data processing of converted data does not commence until after the display time period has elapsed following startup of the vehicle.

Abstract: A vehicular vision system includes a camera, a distance sensor and a controller having at least one processor. Image data captured by the camera and sensor data captured by the distance sensor are processed at the controller. The controller, responsive to processing of captured image data and of captured sensor data, detects an object. The controller determines the distance to the detected object based at least in part on difference between the positions of the detected object in captured image data and in captured sensor data. The controller, responsive to processing of captured image data and of captured sensor data, and responsive to the determined distance to the detected object, determines that the detected object represents a collision risk. The controller alerts a driver of the vehicle of the collision risk and/or controls the vehicle to mitigate the collision risk.

Abstract: A vehicular interior cabin monitoring system includes an interior rearview mirror assembly with a mirror head that accommodates a camera and a plurality of light sources. The system includes a plurality of electronic switches. Each of the electronic switches (i) is connected in parallel across a respective light source and (ii) is connected in series with at least one other light source of the plurality of light sources when at least one other electronic switch operates in its opened state. With each electronic switch operating in its respective opened state, electrical current provided by the current driver passes through the light sources. The system is (i) operable to provide an occupant detection function for detecting an occupant present within an interior cabin of the vehicle and (ii) operable to provide a driver monitoring function for monitoring a driver of the vehicle.

Abstract: A vehicular alert system includes a forward-viewing camera disposed at an in-cabin side of a windshield of a vehicle and viewing through the windshield forward of the equipped vehicle, and a forward-sensing sensor disposed at the equipped vehicle and sensing forward of the equipped vehicle. Image data captured by the forward-viewing camera and sensor data captured by the forward-sensing sensor are processed at an electronic control unit (ECU). The vehicular alert system, responsive to processing at the ECU of image data captured by the forward-viewing camera and to processing at the ECU of sensor data captured by the forward-sensing sensor, determines that the equipped vehicle is approaching a hazard ahead of the equipped vehicle, and visually alerts a trailing vehicle behind the equipped vehicle of the hazard at least by actuating hazard lights of the equipped vehicle.

Abstract: A vehicular vision system includes a rear backup camera and a controller having an image processor. A video display screen is disposed in the vehicle and viewable by a driver of the vehicle. With the vehicular vision system operating in a standard viewing mode, image data captured by the rear backup camera is processed to provide video images representative of a standard view rearward of the vehicle that is within the field of view of the rear backup camera. With the vehicular vision system operating in a cross-traffic viewing mode, image data captured by the rear backup camera is processed at the image processor to provide video images derived from the processed captured image data that are representative of a wider angle view rearward of the vehicle that has a wider angle view than the standard view rearward of the vehicle.
