摘要: A camera sub-assembly for a vehicular camera includes a cylindrical lens barrel and a lens holder. The cylindrical lens barrel is received in a cylindrical lens barrel receiving structure of the lens holder. An axial face of an annular flange of the cylindrical lens barrel is juxtaposed with an axial face at the outer end of the cylindrical lens barrel receiving structure of the lens holder with an adhesive disposed therebetween. An imager is disposed at a first side of an imager printed circuit board, which is attached at the lens holder. With the cylindrical lens barrel held in position relative to the imager by the adhesive, a frontmost optical element of a plurality of optical elements accommodated by the cylindrical lens barrel is distanced further from the imager than any other optical element of the plurality of optical elements. The frontmost optical element may be a glass lens element.

摘要: A vehicular camera includes a lens holder, a first printed circuit board and a second printed circuit board. The first and second printed circuit boards are stacked and overlap one another. Circuitry disposed at the first printed circuit board is electrically connected with circuitry disposed at the second printed circuit board via board-to-board electrical connection. The circuitry disposed at the first printed circuit board includes an imaging sensor at a first side of the first printed circuit board. Thermally conductive material is disposed between the second printed circuit board and a second side of the first printed circuit board. The thermally conductive material is in thermally-conductive contact with the first and second printed circuit boards. The vehicular camera includes a rear housing, which includes an electrical connector portion. The electrical connector portion of the rear housing may include an electrical plug connector.

摘要: A vehicular camera includes a lens comprising a plurality of optical elements, a lens holder, and an imager printed circuit board. The plurality of optical elements includes at least one plastic optical element and at least one glass optical element. The imager printed circuit board has circuitry disposed thereat. The circuitry of the imager printed circuit board includes an imager that has an imaging array. The lens is held in optical alignment with the imaging array of the imager via an adhesive. The adhesive bonds the lens barrel to the lens holder. A flexible electrical ribbon cable electrically connects the circuitry of the imager printed circuit board with additional circuitry of the vehicular camera. The vehicular camera, when installed and used in a vehicle, captures image data for a vision system of the vehicle.

摘要: A vehicular camera includes a lens holder accommodating a lens and an imager printed circuit board (imager PCB). The lens holder includes a plurality of posts protruding from an attaching portion of the lens holder. The imager PCB includes an imager disposed at a first side of the imager PCB, and includes a plurality of apertures therethrough. The attaching portion of the lens holder is positioned at the imager PCB such that the posts protrude through the apertures of the imager PCB. The posts are movable within the apertures while the lens is adjusted relative to the imager to align the lens relative to the imager. With the lens aligned relative to the imager, the posts are heated to deform within the apertures, whereby the deformed posts harden upon cooling to secure the lens holder relative to the imager PCB.

摘要: A vehicular camera includes a lens barrel accommodating a lens and having at least two radial protrusions protruding radially outward at or near an inner end of the lens barrel. A lens holder includes a passageway for receiving the inner end of the lens barrel and has at least two slots extending longitudinally from a board end of the lens holder. The lens barrel is received in the lens holder and the board end of the lens holder is attached at an imager printed circuit board with the imager facing the lens. The radial protrusions are movable within the slots while the lens barrel is adjusted relative to the imager to align the lens at the imager. After the lens is aligned relative to the imager, the radial protrusions within the slots are welded to the lens holder to secure the lens barrel relative to the imager printed circuit board.

摘要: A vehicular camera module includes a housing and an imager assembly having an imager, an imager circuit board and a lens holder. The imager is disposed at the imager circuit board. The lens holder includes a lens holding portion and an attaching portion, with the lens holding portion accommodating a lens. The attaching portion of the lens holder includes a plurality of pins that, when the attaching portion is mated with the circuit board, are received at least partially through apertures of the imager circuit board. With the pins received at least partially through the apertures, and with the lens focused and optically aligned with the imager at the imager circuit board, the pins are soldered at the imager circuit board so as to fixedly attach the lens holder at the imager circuit board to form the imager assembly. The imager assembly is attached at the housing.

摘要: A vehicular camera includes a lens accommodated in a lens barrel, a lens holder that accommodates at least part of the lens holder, and a printed circuit board with an imager disposed thereat. After the lens is optically aligned with the imager, the adhesive is initially curable to an initially-cured state in an initial curing process for an initial-cure time period. The initially-cured adhesive is further curable to a further-cured state in a secondary curing process for a further-cure time period that is longer than the initial-cure time period. As further cured, the further-cured adhesive maintains optical alignment of the lens with the imager for use of the vehicular camera in a vehicle. The further-cured adhesive maintains at least 70% strength of bond after being exposed for 1000 hours to a temperature of 85 degrees Celsius and a humidity of 85% RH.

摘要: A method of assembling a vehicular camera includes providing a front camera housing and a lens assembly and dispensing an adhesive bead in an uncured state at at least one of (i) an attaching portion of the lens assembly and (ii) the front camera housing. The attaching portion and the front housing member are mated together with the adhesive bead therebetween. With the attaching portion and front housing member mated together, lens optics of the lens assembly are aligned with respect to an imaging array of the front camera housing. After such alignment, the adhesive bead is cured to a first cure level via ultraviolet light exposure to join the lens assembly and the front housing member. The lens assembly and front camera housing so joined are moved to a further curing station, where the adhesive bead is further cured to a second cure level.

摘要: A method of assembling a vehicular camera includes providing a lens assembly having a base portion, a lens barrel and a plurality of optical elements in the lens barrel, and providing a circuit element having a circuit board and an imaging array. An adhesive bead is dispensed at the base portion and/or circuit element. The circuit element is placed at the base portion with the adhesive bead therebetween and the optical elements are aligned with the imaging array via a six axis robotic device when the circuit element is at the base portion and in contact with the adhesive bead. The adhesive bead is cured to a first cure level via exposure of the adhesive bead to ultraviolet light. The assembly is moved to a second curing stage and the adhesive bead is cured to a second cure level via heating the adhesive bead.
