    Abstract: A method and device for improved audio intelligibility in a converged land mobile radio (LMR)/broadband (BB) communications system is provided. A converged portable radio operating as part of a talkgroup in the LMR/BB system checks for predetermined triggers during standby that could cause receive radios of the talkgroup to receive degraded audio. If such a trigger is detected then the converged portable radio switches from the LMR system to the BB system and transmits a notification including a change system message to the other converged portable radios of the talkgroup. The notification is transmitted prior to any push-to-talk audio being transmitted from the originating radio. The converged portable radio can transmit, via a push-to-talk switch, narrowband (NB) audio and wideband (WB) audio in parallel over the BB system to the talkgroup subsequent to the detection of triggers and the sending of the notification.

    Abstract: A method and system for tracking an object of interest in a talkgroup. The method includes receiving a first image stream including the object from a first portable communication device associated with the talkgroup. The method includes detecting the object in the first image stream, determining a first view angle associated with the object's position in relation to the first device, and determining a second view angle associated with the object's position in relation to a second portable communication device. When a difference between the first angle and the second angle is below a threshold, a first modified image stream is generated by highlighting the object in the first image stream. When the difference between the first angle and the second angle is above the threshold, a second modified image stream is generated by highlighting the object and indicating a relative direction to the object from the second device.

    Abstract: A method and server for broadcasting a data file to talk groups. The method includes fragmenting the data file into data blocks and broadcasting the data blocks to the talk groups. The method also includes detecting a voice call start event based on a first change is a received voice call status. The method further includes detecting a voice call end event based on a second change in the received voice call status. The method also includes generating a backlog item. The backlog item includes a subset of data blocks of the plurality of data blocks.     Abstract: A device, method and system for scanning communication systems of different types is provided. A mobile device comprises: first and second transceivers to communicate first and second communication systems of different types; a memory storing first and second scan lists for scanning first and second channels on the first and second communication systems; and a controller configured to: communicate, using the first transceiver, an indication of the first and second scan lists to a gateway device configured as a proxy for the mobile device to communicate with the first communication systems; receive, using the first transceiver, from the gateway device, a reply indicating that the gateway device is capable of scanning the first communication systems using the first scan list, but is not capable of scanning the second communication systems; and control the second transceiver to scan the one or more second communication systems using the second scan list.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for a first communication device for use with a first vehicle in a system for transmitting information about an incident occurring on a road. The first communication device includes a first receiver to receive an incident indicator. In one embodiment, a first electronic processor is electrically coupled to the first receiver and a first transmitter. The first electronic processor is configured to determine whether to relay a modified incident indicator to other vehicles. The first electronic processor is further configured to modify at least a portion of incident information included in the incident indicator to create the modified incident indicator. The first electronic processor is further configured to control the first transmitter to transmit the modified incident indicator to one or more other vehicles.
