    摘要: A method of re-manufacturing a shaft-hub assembly to be used in a transfer case, the method including the steps of: determining an initial diameter of a journal bearing of a main shaft that has been used in the transfer case; comparing the determined initial diameter to a predetermined minimum threshold, and discarding the main shaft if the determined initial diameter is below the predetermined minimum threshold; if the determined initial diameter is above the predetermined minimum threshold, preparing the bearing surface of the journal bearing for a thermal spray process; thermally spraying an aluminum bronze material onto the bearing surface; and machining the aluminum bronze material to achieve an outside diameter that provides a desired running clearance with a corresponding finished inside diameter of a central bore for a hub to which the main shaft will be assembled in the transfer case.

    摘要: A method is provided for repairing a cylinder head having corrosion and erosion of the gasket sealing surface around the coolant inlet. The engine is disassembled and the corroded material is machined to a selected depth and width creating a pocket having a bottom wall surface and an annular side wall surface surrounding the coolant inlet port. An annular insert is provided having an annular outer side wall, a top wall, a bottom wall, and a central opening. The insert has a thickness greater than the depth of the machined pocket. An adhesive is applied the insert is pressed into the pocket. After curing of the adhesive, the top wall of the insert is machined to a dimension flush with the sealing surface of the head thereby creating a proper sealing surface for the subsequent seating of a replacement gasket.

    摘要: A shaft assembly comprises an annular hub with a shaft extending therefrom. The hub and the shaft are integrally formed from a single forging, thereby reducing stress concentration locations within the assembly. The hub includes a circumferential wall having a wall thickness. A plurality of teeth protrude from the circumferential wall. Each of the plurality of teeth has a tooth thickness, with the tooth thickness being greater than the wall thickness. Splines are formed on an outer surface of the shaft. Preferably, the splines are induction hardened. A method of manufacturing the shaft assembly includes forging a base member and flow forming the base member into the hub and the shaft to create the shaft assembly. Next, the plurality of teeth are formed within the hub. Finally, the splines are formed on the shaft, and preferably induction hardened.

    摘要: A dry alkali metal phenate can be more efficiently carbonated with carbon dioxide under pressure to an alkali metal carboxylate of a phenol, if the phenate is finely divided and the temperature during carbonation is maintained below about 135.degree. C. until at least about 25 mole percent of the carbon dioxide theoretically necessary to achieve complete carbonation is absorbed by the phenate. This method of carbonation is particularly useful to produce the sodium salt of salicylic acid.

    摘要: A method is provided for remanufacturing a transmission assembly including an output shaft having an input end positioned adjacent an input sun gear. The method includes machining a pocket into the input end of the output shaft. A first roller needle bearing is positioned inside the pocket. The input sun gear is then replaced with a modified sun gear having a protruding center support hub configured to extend into the pocket and cooperate with the first roller needle bearing, thereby supporting the output shaft to prevent tilting of the output shaft to reduce wear.
