    摘要: An electron-emitting device comprises a pair of opposing electrodes formed on a substrate, an electroconductive film having a fissure arranged between the pair of electrodes, and at least a film having a gap and containing carbon as a main ingredient, arranged at an end portion of the electroconductive film facing the fissure.The fissure is a region of 95% or more of a length in the fissure direction, has a width of from 60 nm or more to 800 nm or less, and has a difference of 300 nm or less between a maximum value and a minimum value of the width, thereby providing high withstanding voltage without forming branched fissure.

    摘要: It is an object of the present invention to manufacture a conductive film with a small shape fluctuation at a high stability and a high reproducibility by using the ink jet system. It is another object of the present invention to provide an electron-emitting device having a preferable electron-emitting characteristic, an electron source in which a plurality of preferable electron-emitting devices having a high uniformity are arranged, and an image-forming apparatus having a high uniformity and a preferable display quality. It is still another object of the present invention to provide inexpensive electron-emitting device, electron source, and image-forming apparatus at a high yield. The present invention is characterized by providing an electron-emitting-device manufacturing method comprising the steps of supplying a liquid containing a conductive-film-forming material so as to connect a pair of electrodes arranged on a substrate each other, forming a conductive film by heating the substrate to which the liquid is supplied and forming an electron-emitting portion by applying a voltage between the electrodes, wherein the liquid uses a solvent containing nitrogen as a main solvent.

    摘要: A method for manufacturing electron emitting devices each having electrodes formed on a substrate and an electroconductive thin film connected between a pair of electrodes and having an electron emitting region is provided which can manufacture electron emitting devices having an excellent uniformity of electron emitting characteristics by improving the formation of liquid droplets to be dispensed to the substrate. In the manufacturing method, the substrate formed with the electrodes is subjected to a hydrophobic process using a silane coupling agent which contains two or more acetoxy groups in a molecule, and thereafter liquid droplets containing material for forming the electroconductive thin film are dispensed to the substrate. An image of excellent uniformity can be displayed by adopting electron emitting devices manufactured in the above manner to an image display apparatus.

    摘要: A method for manufacturing electron emitting devices each having electrodes formed on a substrate and an electroconductive thin film connected between a pair of electrodes and having an electron emitting region is provided which can manufacture electron emitting devices having an excellent uniformity of electron emitting characteristics by improving the formation of liquid droplets to be dispensed to the substrate.
