    摘要: A liquid crystal display device of an in-plane switching mode comprises a pair of polarizing plates which are constituted with a polarizing plate at the output side comprising a polarizer at the output side and a polarizing plate at the incident side comprising a polarizer at the incident side having a transmission axis approximately perpendicular to a transmission axis of the polarizer at the output side and two or more sheets of optically anisotropic members and liquid crystal cells disposed between the pair of polarizing plates. In the optically anisotropic member, the sum of the major in-plane refractive indices is twice the sum of the major refractive index in the direction of thickness or smaller. The ratio of retardation of light incident at an angle inclined by 40 degrees with respect to the normal toward the major axis (R40) to the retardation of light incident perpendicularly (R0) is 0.90˜1.10. The device comprises a low refractive index layer which has a refractive index of 1.37 or smaller, comprises a cured coating film of silicone comprising hollow fine particles or porous fine particles and is disposed at the side of observation of the face of the protective film at the side of observation of the polarizer. The device exhibits excellent scratch resistance and excellent quality of black depth and uniform and high contrast in viewing at any angles.

    摘要: A protective film for polarizing plate having a substrate film of a resin material and, laminated on at least one surface thereof directly or via another layer, an antireflection layer, characterized in that the substrate film has a photoelastic coefficient of less than 9×10−12 Pa−1 and a saturated water-absorbing percentage of less than 0.05%, and the resin material constituting the substrate film exhibits a warpage percentage of 1% or less when the film having an average thickness of 50 μm and a dimension of 100 mm×100 mm is allowed to stand at 60° C. and a humidity of 95% for 500 hours is below 1%; a method for preparing the protective film for polarizing plate; a polarizing plate with antireflection function comprising the protective film and a polarizing plate laminated thereon; and an optical article having the polarizing plate with antireflection function. The above protective film for polarizing plate has a structure which is less susceptible to warpage, deformation, and distortion even when allowed to stand in an atmosphere of high temperature and high humidity for a long period of time.

    摘要: A protective film for polarizing plate made by laminating k layers (k being an integer of 2 to 7) of thermoplastic resin, in which a refractive index ni(λ) at a wavelength X in the range of 380 to 780 nm of the i th thermoplastic resin layer as well as a refractive index ni+1(λ) at a wavelength λin the range of 380 to 780 nm of the i+1 th thermoplastic resin layer have a relationship of In |ni(λ)−ni+1(λ)|≦0.045 (i being an integer of 1 to k−l); and a polarizing plate comprising the protective film and a polarizer. The protective film has an in-plane retardation Re at a wavelength λof 550 nm of 50 nm or less, and is obtained by coextruding at least one layer (A) of thermoplastic resin having of a negative photoelastic coefficient with at least one layer (B) of thermoplastic resin having a positive photoelastic coefficient.
