摘要: A timing transmission mechanism (T2) in an engine is formed of a chain transmission system (C) that is formed from a drive sprocket (20) mounted on a crankshaft (4), a driven sprocket (25) mounted on a pump input shaft (24) of a high pressure fuel pump (P), and a chain (22) wound around the drive sprocket (20) and the driven sprocket (25); and a gear transmission system (G) that is formed from a drive gear (26) mounted on the pump input shaft (24) coaxially with the driven sprocket (25) and a driven gear (27) mounted on a camshaft (13b) and meshing with the drive gear (26). This enables a timing transmission mechanism to be provided that can increase the degree of freedom in layout of the high pressure fuel pump without causing any increase in the number of components, the weight, or the backlash.

摘要: A rotatable member (40) such as a sprocket is rotatably mounted on a fixed shaft member (32), and a first oil passage (72) extending in a radial direction is formed by a thrust member (36) abutting an axial end surface of the rotating member. The inner end of the first oil passage communicates with a radial bearing interface (A) of the rotatable member, and an oil jet ejected from an orifice (68) of an oil nozzle (66) is directed to an open outer end of the first lubricating oil passage. Because the first oil passage is fixed in position, the radial bearing interface receives an adequate supply of lubricating oil fed from the oil nozzle. The other axial end of the rotating member may be provided with a second lubricating oil passage (82) which also extends in a radial direction, the second lubricating oil passage having an open outer end and an open inner end communicating with the radial bearing interface. The centrifugal force acting on the lubricating oil in the second lubricating oil passage promotes a favorable re-circulation of the lubricating oil, and hence a favorable lubrication.

摘要: An engine has a first camshaft having a power input portion at one end thereof and a second camshaft interlocked and connected with the first camshaft at one end portion thereof have axes which are parallel with each other and are rotatably supported on a cylinder head and in which a driven gear meshing with a drive gear provided at the other end portion of one of the first and second camshafts is provided on an auxiliary device drive shaft connecting to an auxiliary device mounted on an engine main body including the cylinder head, wherein an axis of the auxiliary device drive shaft is disposed between the first and second camshafts at a position closer to the cylinder head than a straight line connecting the axes of the two camshafts.

摘要: A valve train of an internal combustion engine has rocker arms which are spherically supported on lash adjusters and camshafts disposed above the rocker arms. The camshafts are rotatably supported on a cam holder including a lower cam holder which is fastened to a cylinder head and an upper cam holder. Projections for preventing the fall of the rocker arms in axial directions of the camshafts through the contact with the rocker arms are provided on bearing portions and partitioning portions which are integrally formed on the lower cam holder in such a manner as to face both sides in the axial direction of the rocker arms.
