Image-receiving paper for thermal sublimable dye transfer comprises a polymer film or paper and an image-receiving layer which is laminated thereon and which contains as a releasing agent the product of reaction between an oxyalkylene oligomer having reactive groups and a low-molecular weight compound having reactive groups, for example, a silane coupling agent. The image-receiving paper exhibits good release properties during printing, a high print density and no fading and yellowing after printing.

A method of producing a plastic sheet with a porous surface layer suitable for use as, for example, a recording medium on which characters and images are printed by ink jet or thermal-transfer printing method. The method comprises preparing a solution by dissolving two or more kinds of plastics having low levels of miscibility to each other in a solvent, applying said solution to a substrate, passing said substrate with said solution applied thereto through a liquid which dissolves said solvent but does not dissolve said plastics thereby solidifying said plastics, and drying said substrate with the solidified plastic layer. Preferably, two or more kinds of plastics having low levels of miscibility to each other include mainly a material A which is vinyl chloride or its compolymer and a material B which is acrylonitrile or its copolymer.

The rail can further contain one or more of 0.05 to 1.50 wt. % of Cr, 0.05 to 0.20 wt. % of Mo, 0.03 to 0.10 wt. % of V, 0.10 to 1.00 wt. % of Ni, and 0.005 to 0.050 wt. % of Nb.

An apparatus for attaching a molding to the peripheral edge of an article such as a glazing used in an automobile. A molding having a groove in its one side is extruded from an extruder. The molding is guided so that the leading end of the molding contacts the edge of an article which is held by a robot. The groove of the molding is expanded by a guide section, and the edge of the glazing enters the groove thus expanded. The robot then rotates the glazing, while pressure is applied to the molding so that the molding adheres to the glazing. When the glazing is rotated one turn, the molding is cut. The molding may be heated from the side having the groove, and cooled from the opposite side having a lip. This facilitates the attachment of the molding without causing any deterioration of the shape of the lip.

The engraving layer being adapted to be engraved to form an image from its surface down to the level of said substrate. One or more colored layer may be provided between the substrate and the engraving layer.

A method for manufacturing a high strength rail with good toughness, comprises cooling a rail to Ar.sub.3 transformation point or less after hot rolling; heating said cooled rail at a temperature of an austenite temperature zone ranging from Ac.sub.3 transformation point to 950.degree. C.; and cooling the heated rail. The chemical composition of the rail consists of 0.50 to 0.85 wt. % C, 0.50 to 1.50 wt. % Mn, 0.035 wt. % S or less, 0.10 to 1.00 wt. % Si, 0.035 wt. % P or less, 0.050 wt. % Al or less and the balance of Fe and inevitable impurities.
