A thermal head has a plurality of heating elements disposed in line. These heating elements are grouped into sets of four heating elements. Each set records one pixel which is constituted by 4.times.8 cells disposed in a matrix shape. Each cell is selectively recorded with an ink micro dot. A blank section record an nth pixel, and immediately before each heating element faces the first main micro line of an (n+1)th pixel. In the course of this blank section, each time the thermal head moves by a predetermined distance, each heating element is driven by drive data which does not make the heating element turn on. In a preferred embodiment, if an nth pixel has a low density, each heating element is selectively driven to the extent that an ink micro dot is not recorded, so as to preheat the selected heating element in the course of the blank section.

An inverse CRC circuit is generated based on the generated table. A CRC parity bit obtained by performing viterbi decoding is set as an initial state in respective flop-flops within the inverse CRC circuit. The portion except for the CRC parity bit of the decoded data is sequentially input and an operation is performed. When the entire decoded data is input, an initial state detecting unit determines that an error exists in reception data if the initial values set in the respective flip-flops within the CRC circuit by the transmitting side are not set in the respective flip-flops within the inverse CRC circuit.

A connector adapted to detect a connective state is disposed in a monitor having a video input terminal and display. The detector detects the presence of an external video output connected to the video input terminal. When a video input it detected, a power controller enables the video display; however, if no connection is detected to the monitor input, power to the display is disabled. According to one embodiment the detector determines the connective state based on the presence of a video signal input from the video input terminal. In yet another embodiment the control signal terminal is provided for connection with a video camera. In addition, video operation switch and output for controlling the video camera are also provided. Finally, the monitor may include an infrared controller for sending control signals to control the operation of the video camera.

A disclosed mobile station capable of using a plurality of communication systems may reduce power consumption when located in a service area other than that of a communication system that is set during use as a single-mode mobile station. The mobile station has communication processors respectively supporting the two communication systems; a communication unit switching section, which sets communication to either of the two communication systems; and a communication switch selector, which controls the switchover of the set communication system. When the mobile station location is out of communication range for the set communication system, the communication switch selector carries out a search to determine if the mobile station is in the other communication system service area, and if the mobile station is inside the other communication system service area, sets the mobile station to a monitoring mode for regularly monitoring notice information from the base station of the above-mentioned other communication system without carrying out location registration processing.

In a transmission system to which the invention is applied, the service quality and the transmission efficiency are increased in an inexpensive manner, resources are utilized effectively, and flexible application of a variety of systems is enabled.

The transmit buffer has a first storage unit for storing a length ni·T (i=1, 2, . . . , N) of transmit data, and a second storage unit for storing a reference time length T of transmit data. The following operation is carried out on a per-service basis: a length ni·T of transmit data is stored in the transmit buffer in the lengths T at low speed; a length ni·T of transmit data, which has already been stored in the transmit buffer, is read out in burst fashion at high speed in parallel with storage of a succeeding length T of transmit data in the transmit buffer; and storage and read-out of ni·T lengths of transmit data are subsequently performed in parallel in similar fashion and the transmit data that has been read out is input to an encoding processor.

A video camera connects a monitor with a camera body. A first multi-connector is connected to the camera body and includes a video output terminal for outputting a video signal to an external apparatus and a recognition output terminal for outputting a recognition signal in response to a ON/OFF state of the camera power. A second multi-connector is connected with the monitor, for connecting to the first multi-connector. The second multi-connector includes a video input terminal for inputting the video signal and a recognition input terminal for inputting the recognition signal from said camera body. A display is also provided for displaying an image based on the video signal inputted from the video input terminal of the second multi-connector and a power controller controls a monitor power to be ON/OFF based on the recognition signal inputted from the second terminal of the second multi-connector. In addition, the recognition output terminal of the first multi-connector is a power recognition terminal for outputting a power recognition signal designating whether the camera power is ON/OFF. Finally, the recognition output terminal of the first multi-connector is a control signal I/O terminal for inputting a control signal in conjunction with outputting a signal designating an operative state of camera. An operation switch operates the camera body and a control signal is output for to the control I/O terminal in response to operation of the operation switch. Also, a camera operation state displays an operative state of the camera based on the signal designating the operative state of camera inputted from the control signal I/O terminal.
