摘要: A developing device in which toner fed from a toner cartridge is caused to flow down by a toner supply roller and, then, mixed with a developer by an agitating roller unit which is made up of a spiral blade and a plurality of radial blades. The spiral blade of the roller unit is greater in outside diameter than the radial blades. Those parts of the spiral blade where the individual chambers are located are notched at one side of the spiral blade and intermittently with respect to an order in the circumferential direction, and those parts of the radial blades where the individual chambers into which the developer from the notched parts of the spiral blade flows are notched. The developing device further comprises a developing roller, a paddle wheel for supplying the developer to the developing roller, a doctor blade for regulating the developer on the developing roller to a predetermined thickness, a separator for returning the developer scraped off by the doctor blade toward the paddle wheel and roller unit, a restricting member extending from a developer outlet side of the separator to a position between the paddle wheel and the developer agitating roller unit for blocking a part of the developer collected from the separator. The developer is moved away from the paddle wheel in response to rotation of the roller unit.

摘要: An image forming apparatus includes a recording head, a water-repellent transfer belt, a pattern formation controller, a read unit, and a detection unit. The recording head has a plurality of nozzles aligned in a given direction, and ejects droplets of a liquid therefrom. The pattern formation controller directs each of the plurality of nozzles to eject the liquid to form a detection pattern on the transfer belt. The detection pattern has multiple droplets ejected from each of the plurality of nozzles sequentially arranged and spaced apart from each other both in the given direction and in a direction orthogonal to the given direction. The read unit includes a light emitting element and a light receiving element, and reads the detection pattern to output a read result. The detection unit detects a defective nozzle according to the read result.

摘要: An image forming method and apparatus capable of implementing accurately and constantly an improved conversion of the amount of toner adhesion over the entire range of the amount of adhesion. The method includes the steps of computing a normalization value as a relative output ratio of the regular reflection output to a background regular reflection component from the surface extracted from the regular reflection light, in which the regular reflection output is obtained by detecting a plurality of gradation toner patterns with a sensor configured to simultaneously detect regular reflection light and diffuse reflection light; obtaining a diffuse reflection output conversion factor by either (1) subtracting the normalization value multiplied by the diffuse reflection output voltage generated by the surface from the diffuse reflection output voltage, or (2) subtracting the normalization value multiplied by a diffuse reflection output voltage increment, which is computed as the difference between the diffuse reflection output voltage and another diffuse reflection output voltage obtained when a light emitting device is turned off, from the diffuse reflection output voltage increment; and subjecting the relation between the diffuse reflection output conversion factor and the amount of adhesion to a polynomial approximation.

摘要: Color image forming equipment capable of immediately responding to a sharp change in environment and producing stable images over a long period of time. An information value relating to the amount of toner deposition on a photoconductive element which changes with a change in environment and effects the formation of an image with a reference value which defines a first and a second environment. Variable dynamic range control devices each being optimal for respective one of the first and second environments are selectively used on the basis of the result of the above comparison.

摘要: In a dry process developing apparatus, a toner recirculating and agitating device includes a regulator member located between a magnet brush forming member and a doctor blade to face the periphery of a developing sleeve at a predetermined spacing therefrom. This spacing is progressively reduced toward the doctor blade to increase the force which tends to recirculate the toner through a predetermined path.
