摘要: A method and apparatus for communicating information between networked devices. Various aspects of the present invention may comprise, for example, a first networked device communicating information over a wireless communication network to a second networked device having power-save mode capability. The first networked device receives an incoming message from the second networked device. A first outgoing message is transmitted to the second networked device prior to transmitting a previously queued outgoing message. A second outgoing message is transmitted to the second networked device prior to the previously queued outgoing message being transmitted. Information may be communicated to the second networked device in a particular manner that depends on whether the second networked device has power-save capability. Communication medium access may be performed in a particular manner, depending on whether the second networked device has power-save capability.

摘要: A wireless transceiver includes an antenna array that transmits an outbound RF signal containing outbound data to remote transceivers and that receives an inbound RF signal containing inbound data from the remote RF transceivers, wherein the antenna array is configurable based on a control signal. An antenna configuration controller generates the control signal to configure the antenna array to hop among a plurality of radiation patterns based on a hopping sequence. An RF transceiver section generates the outbound RF signal based on the outbound data and that generates the inbound data based on the inbound RF signal. In one configuration, a switching section selectively couples a selected one of the antennas in the array to the RF transceiver section, based on the control signal. In another configuration, the RF transceiver section includes an RF section for each antenna in the array.

摘要: A method for generating a preamble of a frame for a multiple input multiple output (MIMO) wireless communication begins by, for each transmit antenna of the MIMO wireless communication, generating a carrier detect field, wherein, from transmit antenna to transmit antenna, the carrier detect field is cyclically shifted. The method continues by, for a first grouping of the transmit antennas of the MIMO wireless communication: generating a first guard interval following the carrier detect field; and generating at least one channel sounding field, wherein, from transmit antenna to transmit antenna in the first grouping, the at least one channel sounding field is cyclically shifted, and wherein the at least one channel sounding field follows the first guard interval. The method continues by, when the MIMO wireless communication includes more than the first grouping of the transmit antennas, for another grouping of the transmit antennas: generating at least one other channel sounding field, wherein, from transmit antenna to transmit antenna in the another grouping, the at least one other channel sounding field is cyclically shifted, and wherein the at least one other channel sounding field follows the at least one channel sounding field; and generating the first guard interval prior to the at least one other channel sounding field.

摘要: Aspects in a method and system for no buffered traffic indication for wireless local area network (WLAN) power save may enable a peer communication device to determine a time duration for remaining in an active operating state based on communication with other peer communication devices. In one aspect, a given peer communication device may determine that it has no data to communicate to any of the remaining peer communication devices. The given communication device may communicate to each of the peer communication devices that there is no data to transmit to the peer communication device. Each of the peer communication devices may communicate that there is no data to transmit to the given peer communication device. Based on the communications, the given peer communication device may exit the active operating state and enter a low power operating state.

摘要: Fast block acknowledgment generation is provided, via a receiving station, for a plurality of received frames to accommodate latency-sensitive data applications. The fast block acknowledgment generation includes receiving a frame of the plurality of received frames including a transmitter address, a quality of service (QoS) value, and a sequence number. A match to the transmitter address and the QoS value is conducted under a concurrent search to expedite access to a block acknowledgement (ACK) structure, the match provides an index to the block ACK structure. When a block ACK agreement exists that corresponds to the transmitter address and the QoS value, the block ACK structure is accessed based upon the index and storing an acknowledgement state for the received frame in a bitmap of the block ACK structure, and when receipt of the plurality of frames is complete, generating, queuing, and transmitting of a block ACK frame based upon the ACK policy field of the received frame.
