Abstract: Systems, apparatus, methods and computer-readable storage media facilitating trusted pairing between an implantable medical device (IMD) and an external device are provided. In one embodiment, an IMD includes a housing configured to be implanted within a patient, a memory and circuitry within the housing and a processor that executes executable components stored in the memory. The executable components can include: a communication component configured to initiate establishing a telemetry connection with an external device in accordance with a first telemetry protocol based on reception of a request, from the external device, to establish the telemetry connection with the IMD using the first telemetry protocol; and a validation component configured to restrict establishment of the telemetry connection with the external device in accordance with the first telemetry protocol based on reception of validation information from the external device, wherein provision of the validation information is excluded from the first telemetry protocol.

Abstract: Techniques for facilitating telemetry between a medical device and an external device are provided. In one example, a medical device includes a classification component and a communication component. The classification component is configured to determine a classification for data generated by the medical device. The classification component is also configured to determine an urgency level for an advertising data packet based on the classification for the data. The communication component is also configured to broadcast the advertising data packet for the medical device at a defined beaconing rate based on the urgency level for the advertising data packet.

Abstract: Systems, apparatus, methods and computer-readable storage media that facilitate monitoring the integrity of telemetry connectivity between an implantable device and an external device are provided. In one embodiment, an implantable device includes a monitoring component that monitors advertisement signal information identifying an amount of advertisement signals transmitted to the external device within a defined time period, and telemetry session information identifying an amount of the telemetry sessions that are established between the external device and the implantable device within the defined time period. A connectivity assessment component of the implantable device further determines whether a telemetry connectivity problem exists between the external device and the implantable device based on a degree of miscorrelation between the advertisement signal information and the telemetry session information.

Abstract: Systems, apparatus, methods and computer-readable storage media facilitating telemetry overuse reduction in an implantable medical device (“IMD”) are provided. In one embodiment, an IMD includes a housing configured to be implanted at least partially within a patient, a memory and circuitry within the housing and a processor that executes executable components stored in the memory. The executable components include: a communication component configured to establish a telemetry connection with an external device to communicate data associated with sensed physiological data or therapy; and an authorization component configured to determine whether the external device is authorized to communicate with the IMD, wherein the communication component is further configured to disable the telemetry connection with the external device and prevent additional communication with the external device for a defined period of time based on a determination that the external device fails to be authorized to communicate with the IMD.

Abstract: Systems, apparatus, methods and computer-readable storage media facilitating management of operation of an implantable medical device (“IMD”) using a number of communication modes are provided. An IMD is configured to operate in a disabled mode wherein radio frequency (RF) telemetry communication is disabled, or operate in a first advertising mode using the RF telemetry communication. The IMD receives a clinician session request from a clinician device via an induction telemetry protocol while operating in the disabled mode or the first advertising mode, and transitions to operating from the disabled mode or the first advertising mode to operating in a second advertising mode based on receiving the clinician session request. From the second advertising mode, the IMD can establish a clinician telemetry session with the clinician device using the RF telemetry communication and a unique security mechanism facilitated by an identifier for the clinician device included in the clinician session request.

Abstract: Techniques for facilitating telemetry with an implantable device are provided. In one embodiment, an implantable device includes a detection component configured to detect first vibration activity generated by a mobile electronic device external to the implantable device. The first vibration activity includes one or more defined vibration behaviors. The implantable device further includes a memory that stores executable components, and a processor that executes the executable components stored in the memory. In some embodiments, an executable component includes an analysis component configured to determine whether the first vibration activity has a defined level of similarity with a first vibration pattern identifier. Another executable component can include a communication component configured to conduct a telemetry session between the implantable device and the mobile electronic device based on a determination that the first vibration activity has the defined level of similarity with the first vibration pattern identifier.

Abstract: Techniques for facilitating communication between an implantable device and an external device are provided. In one example, an implantable device includes a data packet component and a communication component. The data packet component can insert information associated with the implantable device in a defined service field of an advertising data packet. The defined service field can be selected from one or more service fields of the advertising data packet based on the information associated with the implantable device. The communication component can transmit the advertising data packet. The external device can include a scanning component that can scan one or more service fields of the advertising data packet via an advertising communication channel, and a communication component that can establish a communication link with the implantable device in response to a determination that a criterion associated with a service field is satisfied.
