摘要: Pharmaceutical drugs and formulations suitable for iontophoresis thereof that provide enhanced iontophoretic delivery of an anti-fungal drug to at least one body surface, such as a nail, are described. Also described are pharmaceutical formulations suitable for iontophoresis comprising terbinafine and methods for administering terbinafine to a body surface via iontophoresis. When the drug source is introduced into the nail using a mask, terbinafine concentrations in peripheral areas of nail following iontophoretic treatment are less than drug concentrations directly under the mask. Further, differences in delivered drug concentrations is effectuated by creating drug delivery gradients. Drug can be delivered to dissimilar tissues based on different transfer efficiencies exhibited by the dissimilar tissues, resulting in higher percentage delivery in one tissue vs. another tissue.

摘要: The electrokinetic methotrexate delivery system includes at least one applicator having a multiplicity of non-conductive micro-needles carried on a non-conductive surface of the applicator. The opposite surface is formed of electrically conductive material for contact with an active electrode. The applicator includes a matrix containing a medicament, e.g., methotrexate, or a carrier therefor between the opposite surfaces. When the applicator is applied to the individual's skin with the micro-needles penetrating the skin, an electrical current is completed through the power source, the active electrode, methotrexate, or electrically conductive carrier therefor, the targeted treatment site, the individual's body, a ground electrode and the power supply, thereby electokinetically driving the medicament through the non-conductive micro-needles into the targeted treatment site.

摘要: A system adapted to be disposed between a rigid or semi-rigid device and human skin for reliably attaching the device to the skin for an extended period of time. The system includes a skin-contacting surface for adhering to human skin, and an opposed surface for attachment to a rigid or semi-rigid device. The system is attached along its opposed surface to a portion of the total area of the adjacent surface of the device. When the device is subjected to external stress, the stress is transmitted through the area of attachment and distributed to the unattached area. This minimises stress on the skin and reduces the chance of detachment from the skin.

摘要: An absorbent article for absorption of bodily fluids is provided, including a layer of non-absorbent material defining a tunnel shaped loop and a central portion enclosed by the loop, and an absorbent material retained within the tunnel-shaped loop. The non-absorbent material includes a plurality of apertures through which fluid can flow to reach the absorbent material, and an overwrap material overlies the non-absorbent material to transport fluid over the surface of the non-absorbent material. Preferably the absorbent article is a tampon and the loop is ring shaped.
