    摘要: A multilayer, heat-shrinkable film has a first layer that is an outer film layer and that serves as a heat seal layer, and a second layer comprising at least one semi-crystalline polyamide. The first layer contains at least one member selected from the group consisting of (i) polyolefin having a density of from 0.88 g/cm3 to 0.917 g/cm3, and (ii) ionomer resin. The second layer contains at least one semi-crystalline polyamide selected from the group consisting of polyamide 6, polyamide 66, polyamide 6/66, and polyamide 6/12, with the semi-crystalline polyamide making up at least 50 weight percent of the second layer. The film has a total free shrink at 185° F. of at least 35 percent. The film has a total semi-crystalline polyamide content of at least 35 volume percent. The multilayer, heat-shrinkable film exhibits a percent haze as measured using ASTM D 1003-00, and a percent transparency as measured using ASTM D 1746-97, in accordance with the following equation: % Transparency≧5.33 (% Haze)−31.5 The multilayer, heat-shrinkable film can be used to make a packaging article.

    摘要: An article of manufacture includes an oxygen scavenger and an amorphous silica. The article can be in the form of e.g. a film or sealing compound. A package can be made from the article for containing an oxygen-sensitive article such as food. The amorphous silica reduces migration of odor causing by-products of the oxygen scavenging process. A method of making an article of manufacture having reduced migration of by-products of an oxygen scavenging reaction includes providing an article including an oxygen scavenger and an amorphous silica; and exposing the article to actinic radiation.

    摘要: A method for triggering an oxygen scavenging component of a container for packaging an oxygen sensitive material includes the steps of providing a container defining an internal space and having an internal oxygen scavenging component including an oxidizable organic compound, exposing the oxygen scavenging component to a source of actinic radiation, positioned within said internal space, at a wavelength, intensity, and residence time so as to provide a dose of actinic radiation sufficient to activate the oxygen scavenging component, and packaging an oxygen sensitive material in the internal space of the container whereby the oxygen scavenging component scavenges the oxygen from the internal space of the container. An apparatus and packaging system are also disclosed.
