    摘要: Acetals of polyvinyl alcohol are described in which at least some of the acetal groups are derived from terminally etherified oxyethylene aldehydes/oxaalkanals of the formula ##STR1## The new acetals are internally plasticized and can be processed thermoplastically without external plasticizers. Depending on the nature of the radical R, which can be aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or aromatic, and the size of n, an integer, preferably 1 to 3, and, on the nature of other aldehydes which may be co-used for mixed acetalation, the new acetals are soluble in water or organic solvents.

    摘要: Preparation of soluble polyvinyl acetals having a low degree of crosslinking, which show improved melt viscosity characteristics, by acetalization of soluble polyvinyl alcohols having a low degree of crosslinking, which have been obtained by hydrolysis or alcoholysis of soluble copolymers having a low degree of crosslinking of vinyl esters and monomers having multiple ethylenic unsaturations, for example, glyoxal bisacrylamide. As against comparable non-crosslinked, soluble polyvinyl acetals, polyvinyl acetals having a low degree of crosslinking according to the present invention show increased intrinsic viscosities and surprisingly exhibit advantageous properties in thermoplastic forming, in particular when extruded in a plastified form. The polyvinyl acetals having a low degree of crosslinking furthermore have improved mechanical properties in comparison with non-crosslinked polyvinyl acetals and, in the form of plastified films, are particularly advantageously employed in the production of composite glass.

    摘要: The invention relates to methods for producing crosslinked polyvinyl acetals, according to which a polyvinyl alcohol (A1) containing carboxyl groups is crosslinked by (i) reacting the polymer (A1) with at least one polyaldehyde of formula R9(CHO)n, and (ii) at least partly esterifying groups of formula (1) and formula (4a) with each other, said steps being performed in any order. The invention further relates to methods for producing crosslinked polyvinyl acetals, according to which a polyvinyl alcohol (A2) is crosslinked by (i) reacting the polymer (A2) with at least one compound of formula (6), (ii) adding at least one compound of formula (4b), (iii) adding a polyaldehyde of formula (5), and (iv) at least partly esterifying groups of formula (1) and structural units derived from the compound of formula (4b) with each other, the radicals R7, R8, R9, R10, and R11, and the index n being defined as indicated in the description. Also disclosed are the crosslinked polyvinyl acetals obtained by means of the inventive method and particularly appropriate areas of application of said polymers.
