    摘要: A balun including a pair of metal coil structures and an intervening dielectric layer having a thickness that is selected in response an operating frequency of the balun. The thickness of the dielectric layer may be used to tune the balun and enhance its self-inductance at its operating frequency. In addition, a balun with a pair of metal coil structures formed with an asymmetry that is selected to minimize an amplitude error in its output signal. A balun according the present teachings may also include an asymmetry in the positioning of its output terminals. The positioning of the output terminals of a balun may be adjusted to minimize phase errors at its output signal.

    摘要: A high value resistor of the present invention has an active layer deposited over a semi-insulating substrate. Channel etch regions are defined within the active layer. Gate metal is deposited over each channel etch region. Ohmic contact material is deposited at opposing ends of the active layer to define connection regions. A second metal is deposited over the connection regions to form input/output pads. This resistor pattern presents significant increase in resistance in a given area without any additional processing or process steps.

    摘要: A utility vest enabling attachment of an at least one tool pouch having a generic tool belt type attachment means and method for employing same is disclosed. The utility vest comprises a vest portion having a back and two front side portions defining two armholes, a neck opening and a reinforced bottom edge along which are spaced a plurality of apertures and, one or more adapter portions comprising a rectangular staking plate on which are mounted two or more attachment means for securing the adapter portions to the reinforced bottom edge of the vest portion by inserting the attachment means into the apertures at a location selected by a user. The staking plate is sized in width to enable a tool pouch having a generic tool belt type attachment means to be fitted thereon prior to attachment of the adapter portion to the vest portion. Tool belt type tool pouches may be thereby attached to the vest at locations to distribute their weight properly so as to minimize strain to the user. The vest is constructed of a strong and durable mesh material to enable ventilation of the user while supporting the weight of the tool pouches and enclosed contents, and may further comprise an insertable girth extender.

    摘要: A method for calibrating a communication link that uses frequency ramps to locate the frequency response of a receiver. A method for calibrating according to the present teachings includes generating a transmit signal that includes a series of frequency ramps and determining a timing of gain peaks in a receiver in response to the frequency ramps in the transmit signal. The timing of gain peaks in the receiver indicates the frequency response of the receiver and is used to determine an adjustment to the transmit signal so that the transmit signal adapts to the frequency response of the receiver.

    摘要: An integrated circuit including a distributed amplifier is disclosed. The integrated circuit includes a plurality of amplification stages, each stage connected to an input signal and an output signal. At least one amplification stage includes an amplification transistor such as a field effect transistor (FET) having a gate, a source, and a drain, the gate connected to the input signal and a feedback path between the drain and the gate. The feedback path is implemented with another FET having a gate, a source, and a drain; its gate is connected to a control signal; its drain is connected to the drain of the amplification FET; and its source is connected to the gate of the amplification FET. The feedback path provides variable resistive feedback and allows the amplification FET to operate at its linear response portion of its characteristic curve even when its gain is controlled by a control signal.
