A magnetic record medium comprises(A) a nonmagnetic substrate,(B) a layer consisting essentially of a ferromagnetic metal on at least one side of the substrate,(C) a layer containing carbon on the layer of (B),(D) a layer comprising a primary or secondary organic amine containing at least one substituent having a fluorinated hydrocarbon group at the end of the substituent on the layer of (C), and(E) a layer comprising at least one lubricant having a plurality or fully fluorinated hydrocarbon group on one end of the molecule and a functional group selected from the group consisting of --OH, --SH, --COOH, --COSH and --CONH.sub.2 on the other end of the molecule on the layer of (D).The magnetic record medium of the present invention has a good endurance reliability and does not cause deterioration of such performances as the CSS durability, head adsorption and still life at high temperatures and high humidities, even when the surface property is improved considerably by decreasing the height of surface protrusions for the purpose of improving the recording density.

Resin thin films (12) and metal thin films (11a, 11b) are layered in alternation. The metal thin films are set back from the peripheral edges of the resin thin films (12). Via holes (13a, 13b) penetrating the layered product in the layering direction are formed and filled with conductive material (14a, 14b). The conductive material (14a, 14b) electrically connects the metal thin films (11a, 11b) among one another. The metal thin films are not exposed at the periphery, so that corrosion of the metal thin films is not likely to occur. Furthermore, cutting of the metal thin films during the manufacturing process is avoided.

The bulged portions and the bands extend substantially parallel to a direction of movement of a magnetic head relative to the magnetic disk. A magnetic layer, a protective layer and a lubricant layer are sequentially formed on the substrate.

There are disclosed fluorine-containing compounds of specific structure which have in the molecule a fluoroalkyl ether end group, an aliphatic hydrocarbon end group and a carboxyl end group, and have molecular weights of hundreds to about 3,000; and a process for producing the fluorine-containing compounds. These fluorine-containing compounds can be utilized in magnetic recording media in the form of a lubricant composition.

Disclosed in this invention are novel fluorine-contianing compounds of a specific molecular structure having a fluoroalkylether terminal group, an aliphatic hydrocarbon terminal group and an imino terminal group in the same molecule and a molecular weight of from several hundred to about 3,000, and a process for preparing such compounds. The fluorine-containing compounds of this invention can be utilized as a lubricant composition for magnetic recording media.
