    Abstract: An optical module includes a package including a first member made of a metal material and a second member made of a non-conductive material, the second member facing the first member; a temperature controller fixed in such a manner that one end surface of the temperature controller comes into contact with a surface in a direction of the second member in the first member; a carrier made of a non-conductive material and fixed in such a manner that one end surface of the carrier comes into contact with a surface in an opposite direction to the first member in the temperature controller; and a semiconductor element disposed in either one of a direction of the first member and the opposite direction to the first member with respect to the carrier, and fixed in such a manner that one end surface of the semiconductor element comes into contact with a surface in a direction of the first member in the carrier or a surface in the opposite direction to the first member in the carrier, or in such a manner that one end surface of the semiconductor element comes into contact with a surface in the opposite direction to the carrier in a submount made of a non-conductive material and fixed in such a manner that the submount comes in contact with a surface in a direction of the first member in the carrier or a surface in the opposite direction to the first member in the carrier.

    Abstract: In a laser radar device according to the present disclosed technique, a frequency of laser light to be emitted adopts discrete values based on intervals of a frequency difference F are adopted. Therefore, TOF corresponding to a distance to a target appears in units of the frequency difference F for each time T, and a Doppler frequency corresponding to a speed of the target appears as a finer change than the frequency difference F. As described above, the present disclosed technique provides a laser radar device including a mechanism for separating frequency information resulting from the distance to the target from frequency information resulting from a speed of the target by a simple method.

    Abstract: A metal stem includes a cylindrical portion in which an FPC inserting portion is formed, and a base standing upright from one plane of the cylindrical portion. A tubular lens cap with one open end is fixed to a peripheral portion of the one plane of the cylindrical portion, and has a lens mounted on a bottomed portion. A substrate mounted on one plane of the base includes a signal wiring layer and a ground wiring layer. An optical semiconductor element is mounted on the substrate and has a signal terminal connected to the signal wiring layer of the substrate, and a ground terminal connected to the ground wiring layer of the substrate. An FPC substrate is disposed so as to pass through the FPC inserting portion and to face the one plane of the base. The FPC substrate includes a signal wiring layer connected to the signal wiring layer of the substrate with a metal wire.

    Abstract: The present invention has an object to provide an optical modulator having a small-sized circuit configuration and a smaller voltage drop amount in a terminating resistor. An optical modulator includes first and second optical waveguides, a first signal electrode that inputs a first high frequency signal into the first optical waveguide, a second signal electrode that inputs a second high frequency signal having a reverse phase with respect to a phase of the first high frequency signal into the second optical waveguide, a first terminating resistor connected to the first signal electrode at a terminating part side, a second terminating resistor connected to the second signal electrode at a terminating part side, a connection point that connects the first and second signal electrodes via the first and second terminating resistors, and a direct current voltage supply connected to the connection point. A resistance value of the first terminating resistor is equal to characteristic impedance of the first signal electrode. A resistance value of the second terminating resistor is equal to characteristic impedance of the second signal electrode.

    Abstract: A wavelength tunable light source includes a wavelength tunable laser device and a control device. The wavelength tunable laser device includes: M laser diodes configured to generate laser oscillation to output beams; a multiplexer/demultiplexer configured to multiplex the beams output from the M laser diodes to bifurcate the beams for output; a first semiconductor optical amplifier configured to amplify one output beam of the bifurcated beams to output a first emitted beam; and a second semiconductor optical amplifier configured to amplify another output beam of the bifurcated beams to output a second emitted beam. The control device is configured to perform wavelength switching control on wavelengths of the first emitted beam and the second emitted beam by switching an electric power input to the second semiconductor optical amplifier.
