Disclosed is a resin composition excellent in its drawability, which comprises (A) a saponified ethylene-vinyl ester copolymer having an ethylene content of 20 to 55 mole % and a saponification degree of at least 95%, (B) a saponified ethylene-vinyl ester copolymer having an ethylene content of 25 to 60 mole % and a saponification degree of at least 90%, the ethylene content of the saponified copolymer (B) being higher by at least 3 mole % than the ethylene content of the saponified copolymer (A), and (C) a polyamide, wherein the weight ratio of the saponified copolymer (A) to the saponified copolymer (B) is in the range of from 90/10 to 10/90 and the weight ratio of the sum of the saponified copolymers (A) and (B) to the polyamide (C) is in the range of from 95/5 to 5/95. The resin compositions have excellent gas barrier properties and can be molded into films or sheets or laminated with other film-forming materials. Molded articles such as cups and other vessels having gas barrier properties can be obtained by molding the laminated films prepared from the resin compositions.

A transparent multi-layer container comprising a co-extrudate of an oxygen-barrier resin layer and an orienting resin layer which is monoaxially or biaxially oriented is disclosed. An adhesive resin layer is preferably interposed between the oxygen-barrier layer and the orienting resin layer, and this co-extrudate is drawn and molded at a specific temperature determined relatively to the melting points and softening points of the respective resins. This container is excellent in the combination of transparency, rigidity, mechanical strength, gas-barrier property and interlaminar peel strength.

A vinylidene chloride resin comprising (A) 90 to 99% by weight of vinylidene chloride and 1 to 10% by weight of an acrylic or methacrylic monomer is mixed with (B) 0.5 to 5% by weight, based on the resin, of a low-molecular-weight or high-molecular-weight plasticizer and (C) 0.2 to 5% by weight, based on the resin, of a condensed phosphoric acid salt. Even if this resin composition is exposed to high temperatures, thermal decomposition of the vinyl chloride resin is prominently controlled. When this vinylidene chloride resin composition is laminated with a thermoplastic resin having a thermoforming temperature higher than the thermoforming temperature of the vinylidene chloride resin, a packaging resin laminate having an excellent gas-barrier property is obtained.
