A method can include determining, by an access node, an association between at least one reported refinement beam index and at least one logical beam index based on reception of a refinement beam index report. Abstract: To better support beamforming in MIMO systems such as 5G, a first match is determined between a first transmit (TX) beam group of a radio network and a first receive (RX) beam group of a user equipment (UE); and also a second match is determined between a second TX beam group of the radio network and a second RX beam group of the UE. For example these matches can come from the UE's beam report with best match information. The network configures the UE with at least a first discontinuous reception (DRX) configuration associated with the first RX beam group and with a second DRX configuration associated with the second RX beam group. In this case the first and second DRX configurations are active simultaneously for the UE, and each said beam group comprises at least one antenna or antenna port.

Abstract: Various communication systems may benefit from improved signaling. For example, communication systems may benefit from sending a multi-numerology reference signal that allows a receiving user equipment to perform simultaneous beamforming training, and channel estimation or channel state information acquisition. A method may include receiving at a user equipment a multi-numerology joint reference signal (610). The reference signal may include a reference signal for data channel demodulation or channel state information acquisition, and beamforming training. The method may also include performing simultaneous beamforming training and channel estimation or channel state information acquisition based on the multi-numerology joint reference signal (620).

Abstract: Method, apparatus, and computer program product for a user equipment in a wireless communications system to receive configuration information that has one or more TCI-states. With this configuration information, the user equipment can then determine inactivity on TCI-states. Based on that determination, the user equipment enables either a discontinuous monitoring or a cessation of monitoring on those TCI-states. Each TCI-state corresponds to a radio beam and also corresponds to an antenna panel. By reducing such monitoring, the use equipment can deactivate antenna panels corresponding to the TCI-states. The determination can be done through the use of a timer with various time thresholds based on the TCI-state. The activity being transmitted on those beam can be scheduling received by the user equipment from a network element such as a base station. The TCI-states can also be grouped and the functionality of the invention dealt with on a group basis.

A network node device transmits to a client device a beam ranking indication comprising beam specific first reference data and beam ranking criteria for positioning for downlink transmission beams between the network node device and the client device. In response to a received downlink transmission beam selection indication indicating a downlink transmission beam selected by the client device based on the transmitted beam ranking indication, the network node device transmits second reference data to the client device with at least one downlink transmission beam according to the received downlink transmission beam selection indication.
