Abstract: A wheel bearing apparatus has an outer member with a body mounting flange to be mounted on a knuckle that forms part of a suspension apparatus. An inner member includes a wheel hub and at least one inner ring. The inner ring is press fit onto a cylindrical portion of the wheel hub. Double row rolling elements are contained between double row inner raceway surfaces and double row outer raceway surfaces, respectively, of the inner member and the outer member. The outer member is adapted to be fastened to the knuckle through securing bolts. A vibration damping member is interposed between opposite surfaces of the body mounting flange of the outer member and the knuckle.

Abstract: A bearing device (1) for a vehicle wheel provided with: an outer member (2); and an inner member comprising a hub wheel (3), and at least one inner wheel (4) press-fitted into the small-diameter ridge (3A) of the hub wheel (3); wherein a belt-shaped part (2F) that radially protrudes by a protrusion amount (P1) is formed over a prescribed width (W1) in the outer peripheral surface of the outer member (2) so that at least part of the belt-shaped part (2F) radially overlaps the outside rolling surface (2D) which is on the vehicle-wheel-attachment-flange-facing side of the outer member (2). The present invention addresses the problem of providing a bearing device for a vehicle wheel in which the amount of deformation in an opening of an outer member can be reduced and decreases in rolling fatigue service life can be prevented while keeping overall weight increase to a minimum.

Abstract: A vehicle wheel bearing apparatus has an outer member, an inner member, double row rolling elements, and seals. The outer-side seal has a metal core and a sealing member. The metal core has a cylindrical portion, a radially inner portion and a disk portion. The disk portion closely contacts the outer-side end face of the outer member. The sealing member has a side lip and a weir portion. The weir portion is formed around the outer circumference of the disk portion of the metal core. The weir portion covers the disk portion and is adhered to it. The weir portion projects radially outward from the outer circumference of the outer-side end of the outer member and elastically contacts the outer circumference.
