Abstract: A control device and method controls a vehicle having an internal combustion engine connected to an automatic transmission via a torque converter with a lockup device. The torque of the internal combustion engine is limited the by a torque limit value based on a speed difference between an input rotational speed and an output rotational speed of the torque converter during acceleration in a non-lockup state. The torque-limiting of the internal combustion engine is prohibited torque-limiting upon a prescribed condition being met. The prescribed condition is met by a heating request, during hill climbing/towing, during travel at high vehicle speeds, when the accelerator pedal opening angle exceeds or is equal to a prescribed opening angle, when the torque limit value is greater than a target torque, in a range other than a D range, or in a mode other than normal mode.

Abstract: A control system for an automatic transmission, when hydraulically controlling the speed ratio of a belt type continuously variable transmission that transmits power from an engine to driving wheels by shifting or speed change, limits the shift speed to or below a predetermined value when an accelerator pedal is off and the engine rotational speed is at or below a predetermined speed. Abstract: The control method for the continuously variable transmission in the present invention detects a magnitude of an acceleration request, and when the acceleration request exceeds a preset threshold value, the control method controls a transmission ratio by switching from a first shift mode, in which a target transmission ratio is changed steplessly, to a second shift mode, which includes a stepwise change in the target transmission ratio. Then, when executing the second shift mode, a target engine rotation speed is set according to the magnitude of the acceleration request, and a step-down shift, in which the target transmission ratio is lowered stepwise according to the target engine rotation speed, is executed at an acceleration start time, and the target engine rotation speed after executing the step-down shift is retained for a predetermined period.

Abstract: In a vehicle having a continuously variable transmission, a controller selectively performs a first control mode in which a transmission ratio is controlled in a stepless manner, and a second control mode in which the transmission ratio is controlled in a stepwise manner to perform an upshift after a vehicle speed has increased. When the second control mode is selected in response to a driver's acceleration request, the controller continuously downshifts the transmission ratio until the upshift is performed.

Abstract: A transmission control method has a normal stepless manner transmission mode and a pseudo-stepped downshift mode for controlling a continuously variable transmission connected to an input side of an engine. A downshift target rotational speed and a lower-limit target rotational speed used for the pseudo-stepped downshift are set to values in an engine rotational speed region in which an engine output becomes greater than or equal to a prescribed value. When a mode transition condition is satisfied during deceleration by selecting the normal transmission mode, the mode is shifted to the pseudo-stepped downshift mode to start the pseudo-stepped downshift. When the pseudo-stepped downshift is initiated, an increase to the downshift target rotational speed and a decrease to the lower-limit target rotational speed of the primary rotational speed are repeated, until the mode cancellation condition, including the re-acceleration request, is satisfied.
