    摘要: A plurality of movable dampers (23), (26), (31) are provided in an air flow duct (12) to control the temperature and air flow therethrough. A heater core (19) and/or air conditioner evaporator (18) are disposed in the duct (12). The dampers (23), (26), (31) are positioned by vacuum actuators (28), (29), (33) in accordance with applied vacuum. Sensors (47), (48), (49) sense the temperature in the duct (12), an automobile passenger compartment into which the duct (12) leads and the like. A control means unit (44) modulates vacuum from a source (34) in accordance with sensed temperature so as to maintain the temperature at a desired value. In case of failure of the automatic control unit (44), a manual valve unit (51), (53), (56) may be operated to connect the actuators (28), (29), (31) either to the vacuum source (34) or to the atmosphere so as to position the dampers (23), (26), (31) minimum or maximum temperature operation respectively.

    摘要: A distributed database management system includes a plurality of computers, each including a database for storing data files to be processed. The plurality of computers are interconnected by communication lines. Each computer has stored data file names, and corresponding address area and location information for all databases, and measures data file retrieval time from the databases. A retrieval time memory section stores data file retrieval times corresponding to the address areas of data stored in the databases. A retrieval time prediction section retrieves the data file retrieval times for data files corresponding to a data file name requested by a user when the requested data file is stored in at least two databases, utilizing stored data file retrieval times and corresponding address areas and location information on where the data file is stored. A data retrieval optimization section selects the database location information and the address area associated with the requested data file name according to the retrieval result by the retrieval time prediction section, and retrieves the requested data file from the appropriate database according to the location information and address area. The system can also register input data files according to a desired retrieval time.

    摘要: According to one embodiment, an IFO generator records a storage position of I and P pictures recorded on a recording medium as an IFO file. An IFO analyzer selects a picture to be displayed corresponding to a reproduction speed in fast-forward reproduction from I, P and B pictures. The IFO analyzer analyzes the IFO file to determine a storage position of a picture required for decoding the selected picture. A picture stored in the storage position determined by the IFO analysis is read from the recording medium via a reader. Pictures are successively decoded via a decoder, and a picture to be displayed in pictures is displayed.

    摘要: The pump (10, 110, 210) may comprise a casing (39, 139, 239) and a substantially disk-shaped impeller (36, 136, 236) that rotates within the casing. A group of depression-shaped grooves may be formed on at least one of the front and reverse surfaces of the impeller and the two casing internal surfaces in opposition to these surfaces. The depression-shaped grooves may extend from the center towards the outer periphery of the impeller. When the impeller rotates, fuel within the clearance between the impeller and the casing is propelled, within the depression-shaped grooves, from the center towards the periphery. In this way, forces are generated in the direction that increases the clearance between the impeller and the casing. It is preferred that the group of depression-shaped grooves 38b is formed closely spaced near the discharge hole 50 (area B), and elsewhere (area C) is formed more widely spaced. Also, it is preferred that the clearance between the surface on which the depression-shaped grooves 136c are formed and the surface 138b in opposition thereto increases from the center of the impeller towards the outer periphery of the impeller.
