    摘要: Formation of wear powder caused by wear of a ramp which is attributable to mutual contact of a lift tab and the ramp is to be reduced in loading and unloading operations. In one embodiment, a spindle motor is turned on by application of power, then the temperature of a ramp is measured and it is determined whether the temperature of the ramp has reached a preset temperature (about 25° C.) or not. If the answer is negative, a heater is energized to heat the ramp for raising the temperature of the ramp. When it is detected that the temperature of the ramp has reached the preset temperature, the heating of the ramp is stopped and the execution of loading and unloading operations is permitted, then an ordinary processing is started.

    摘要: Embodiments in accordance with the present invention allow a resin member accommodating therein a trace, to have a small thickness. An HDD according to an embodiment of the present invention includes a resin accommodation member fixed to a side surface of arms. Part of a trace is accommodated in a slit formed in the accommodation member. Accommodating part of the trace in the slit helps suppress fluttering of the trace and improve head positioning accuracy. A corrugated surface structure is formed on each of surfaces of the arms and the accommodation member in abutment with each other. The corrugated surface structure is used to position the accommodation member in a pivot direction. The accommodation member, having the corrugated surface structure for positioning on the surface being fixed, can be made to have a thin wall.

    摘要: A flexible printed circuit board using a lead-free solder is to be fixed within a disk enclosure while ensuring a high rigidity. In one embodiment, a rotating disk storage device comprises a flexible printed circuit board (FPC), wherein there is formed a wiring pattern including a signal line for the transmission of a signal of data read by a head in an actuator head suspension assembly (AHSA) and wherein one side end portion is fixed to a base and an opposite side end portion is fixed to the AHSA. A first metallic plate and a second metallic plate are both fixed to one side end portion of the FPC. A connector is disposed in an area where the first metallic plate in the FPC is provided, and connected to the wiring pattern. A shock sensor is disposed in an area where the second metallic plate in the FPC is provided, and connected to the wiring pattern. A reinforcing plate of a synthetic resin is, in an opposed state of the first and second metallic plates fixed to one side end portion of the FPC, held between the opposed faces of both metallic plates and is fixed to the base together with both metallic plates.

    摘要: Embodiments of the invention prevent contact between a peripheral edge of a magnetic disk and a counter surface of a ramp when the magnetic disk is displaced. In one embodiment, a ramp is disposed near the peripheral side surface of a magnetic disk. The ramp has magnetic disk retainers each having slide surfaces and counter surfaces respectively facing the recording surfaces of the magnetic disk. Grooves or recesses are formed in the counter surfaces to define relief spaces. When the peripheral side surface of the magnetic disk is displaced toward the counter surface by shocks exerted on the magnetic disk drive, the relief space prevents the peripheral edge from coming into contact with the counter surface. Thus the amount of particles produced by the collision of the magnetic disk with the ramp can be reduced.
