摘要: The present invention provides a system switching function for database management systems which requires no standby resources idling during normal operation. One aspect of the invention is directed to a method for processing databases in a system which includes a plurality of storage areas each storing a database and a plurality of computers each having a database management program running thereon which manages one of the plurality of storage areas. Each storage area is associated with only the computer managing the storage area. The method comprises, when a failure has occurred in one of the plurality of computers as a failed computer, obtaining preset substitution information indicating that the storage area managed by the database management program running on the failed computer is to be managed by the database management program running on another one of the plurality of computers as a substitute computer; and, based on the substitution information, changing association of the storage area with the failed computer to the substitute computer. The storage area is to be managed by the database management program running on the substitute computer.

摘要: A shakeproof bearing or an earthquake-proofing structure (10) comprises a columnar bearing body (13) and a surrounding high damping elastomer (14). The bearing body (13) includes a stack of rigid plates (12) and elastic plates (11) alternating with one another. The high damping elastomer (14) may be shaped into an annular cylinder or, alternatively, may be in the form of a columnar stack of alternating annular rigid plates (18) and annular high-damping-elastomer plates (17).

摘要: An inspection device of a semiconductor device includes a socket where the semiconductor device is installed, and a measuring part configured to inspect an electrical property of the semiconductor device. A standard sample and the socket are provided in a body. A standard value of the standard sample is stored in the measuring part. Whether there is abnormality of the measuring part is determined by comparing a value of the standard sample measured by the measuring part and the standard value.

摘要: A bar handle 5 is provided to extend from the rear parts of right and left side frames 3 and to form a gate shape in a double member structure made up of a fixed member 32 attached to the rear parts of the right and left side frames 3 and a movable member 33 disposed along at least upper side portion of the fixed member 33. A displacement detecting means 42 is interposed between the fixed member 32 and the movable member 33 to detect displacement of the movable member 33 relative to the fixed member 32. A control means is provided to control a driving motor so as to produce assisting power commensurate with the detected displacement.

摘要: There is provided a technique capable of executing a predetermined processing while continuing a database processing. Firstly, the database to be operated is switched from the main database to a duplicate database. The predetermined processing is executed to the main database which becomes the non-operation mode by the switching. Next, a database access request is distributed to the duplicate database which becomes the operation mode by the switching, thereby performing the database processing. Update information indicating the content of the update processing performed to the duplicate database is output. The output update information is reflected on the main data base for which the predetermined processing has been executed. After this, the database to be operated is switched from the duplicate database to the main database.

摘要: A database system is provided for reading data from a database to a database buffer and performing a physical sequential scan for the data on the buffer. If the preceding request for physical sequential scan is under execution, the database system operates to keep the succeeding request for scan in a waiting state until the preceding requested scan is completed and then execute the succeeding request for scan after the preceding requested scan is completed. If there are more than one succeeding requests for physical sequential scan, they are executed at the same time. Another scanning method is also provided. If the preceding request for scan is under execution, the succeeding requested scan is executed for the data existing after the halfway location at which the preceding scan process now reads the data. The short data is read from its head for completing the subsequent scan.

摘要: An apparatus and method for optical telecommunication includes introducing a laser beam emitted from a light source at a first station into an optical fiber, providing an ultrasonic wave obtained by modulating a voice signal by a signal-applying-device at a work section to the optical fiber, modulating a polarized light passing through the optical fiber in amplitude and frequency, receiving the polarized light with the shifted wave plane at a light-receiving section in a second station, detecting at the light-receiving section in the second station the polarized light which has been modulated by the signal-applying device in the work section, and demodulating the polarized light to obtain a voice signal.
