Abstract: An image processing device includes a memory that stores instructions, and a processor that, when executing the instructions stored in the memory, performs a process. The process includes: averaging an input image in units of N×M pixels (N, M: an integer of 2 or larger) in a spatial direction for each grid composed of one pixel or a plurality of pixels, the input image being composed of (S×T) pixels (S, T: a positive integer) having an information amount of a (a: a power of 2) bits per pixel, and defining an averaging result in units of N×M pixels for each pixel or grid by an information amount of (a+b) bits per pixel (b: an integer of 2 or larger) and generating a reduced image composed of (S×T)/(N×M) pixels having the information amount of (a+b) bits per pixel. A value of b is an exponent c (c: a positive integer) of a power value of 2 close to (N×M), or (c+1).

Abstract: A face detection device and method are provided. The face detection device receives captured images from a camera, and extracts vital information from a face region included in the captured images. The face detection device determines, based on the vital information, whether or not a face included in the face region is in a living state, and collates a feature quantity of the face included in the face region with information of a face which is previously registered. The face detection device selects, according to a user input, whether or not to perform at least one or both of a process for the determining, and a process for the collating.

Abstract: There is provided is a method for enhancing a video image capable of achieving high image quality improvement for both a texture area and an edge area. A maximum limit value and a minimum limit value of a video signal value enhanced on the basis of a pixel signal value in an area set around the target pixel are calculated, the maximum limit value and the minimum limit value are corrected according to a texture value calculated as a scale value that indicates a variation of the pixel signal value in the corresponding area, and the corrected maximum limit value and minimum limit value are applied to the enhanced video signal value.

Abstract: A biological information processing device includes an image input unit that inputs image data, a selection unit, an estimation unit, a detection unit, and an output unit. The selection unit selects image ranges of processing targets from the input image data. The estimation unit estimates pulse rates of the processing targets corresponding to the image ranges on the basis of image data of the selected image ranges of the processing targets. The detection unit performs relative comparison between the estimated pulse rates of the processing targets and thus detects a target which will possibly be abnormal or a target requiring special attention. The output unit outputs information regarding the detected target which will possibly be abnormal or the detected target requiring special attention.

A group of pictures with respect to the generated compressed image is different according to the data compression processing modes. When receiving a request for acquiring vital information from a person captured in the input captured image, one of the data compression processing modes is selected so that the generated compressed image is configured by I pictures only.
