Abstract: Strong, high modulus, high-melting, non-burning fibers produced from aromatic sulfide polymers, such as phenylene sulfide polymers, by melt spinning an aromatic sulfide polymer having a melt flow in the range of from 75 to 800 followed by drawing the fibers in the molten state, cooling the fibers, and, optionally, drawing the cooled fibers in the solid state, are formed into fibrous articles of manufacture such as yarn, fabrics, and the like.
