Abstract: The present invention provides a non-aqueous lubricant composition comprising a base stock and 5 at least 0.02 wt % of a friction reducing additive which comprises a block co-polymer of at least one block A which is an oligo- or polyester residue of a hydroxycarboxylic acid and at least one block B which is a residue of a polyalkylene glycol. The invention also provides the use of a block co-polymer of at least one block A which is an oligo- or polyester residue of a hydroxycarboxylic acid and at least one block B which is a residue of a polyalkylene glycol to reduce the kinetic co-efficient 10 of friction in a non-aqueous lubricant composition when compared to an equivalent lubricant composition comprising no block co-polymer.

Abstract: The disclosed technology provides lubricating compositions comprising an oil of lubricating viscosity, an alkaline earth metal sulfonate detergent having a metal ratio of at least 10, in an amount to contribute 3 to 14 g KOH/kg of TBN to the lubricating composition, an ashless, sulfur free, hydrocarbyl phenolic compound in an amount of 0.4 to about 6.0 weight percent (wt %) of the composition, and an ashless dispersant; wherein the lubricating composition has total ash of 0.3 to 1.8 wt %, total detergent soap of 0.1 to 1.2 wt % and wherein the lubricating composition contains less than 0.1 wt % of a sulfur-containing phenolic detergent. The disclosed technology further relates to a method of lubricating a mechanical device (such as an internal combustion engine) with the lubricating composition. The disclosed technology further relates to the use of the of the lubricating composition in a heavy duty diesel internal combustion engine to improve control of at least one of the following (i) fuel economy, (ii) corrosion, (iii) cleanliness, and (iv) bore wear.

Abstract: The invention relates to an anti-friction coating (11, 12, 41, 42, 43) and an anti-friction coating composite (10) comprising at least 25 vol. % of a binder (16) and comprising fillers, which include zinc sulfide (18) and barium sulfate (20) and optionally additional fillers, wherein the volume ratio of barium sulfate (20) to zinc sulfide (18) is between 0.1 and 15.7, preferably between 0.8 and 4.88, and particularly preferably between 1.5 and 3.44. The anti-friction coating composite (10,40) comprises at least two anti-friction coatings (11, 13) of different compositions. The invention further relates to sliding bearing layered composite materials comprising such coatings and use thereof in internal combustion engines.
