A pneumatic wheel is disclosed made of a pneumatic tire and a rim wherein the tire sidewalls have a meridian plane convexity in their section midline which is directed toward the tire inside and so formed to be bent and compressed by inflation air. The tire also has a rim connection zone which is radially inner with respect to the sidewalls. The rim is single seated for connection zone encasement and has a circumferential channel shape with a radially outer directed opening with respect to the axis of rotation of the wheel. The width opening is smaller than the maximum channel width and the connection zone and channel have similar profiles with the cross section of the zone being no smaller than the cross section of the channel.

A pneumatic wheel for vehicles including a tire provided with a tread, two sidewalls and two beads and a rim with two seats, one for each bead. Each seat has the shape of a circumferential channel having an opening for the introduction of each bead in its seat. The width of the opening is smaller than the maximum width of the seat. Each bead has in cross-section a profile at least partially equal to that of the corresponding seat of the rim and is substantially indeformable. The cross-section of the bead is smaller than the cross-section of the seat. Each bead is locked in its seat by an element having a modulus of resistance to compression of the same order of magnitude as that of the compound forming the beads and which makes coincident the partially equal profiles. The tire is anchored to the rim by introducing the element into the seat on the rim after the introduction of the bead so as to press the surface of the bead against the surface of the corresponding seat.

A pneumatic tire is disclosed for vehicle wheels wherein the tread is reinforced by an essentially rigid under tension annular structure with a width greater than the distance between the beads of the sidewalls. The sidewalls are made of an elastomeric material and are so shaped that they have an inwardly directed convexity under normal service pressure conditions. If a vertical load is applied to the tire, the sidewalls will react such that the distance from the median plane of the wheel will be increased causing a reduction in the inclination of the sidewalls by approaching a horizontal line.

A pneumatic tire for vehicle wheels which includes a tread, an annular reinforcing structure, two sidewalls, two beads and having a plurality of slits in the inner and outer surfaces of the sidewalls which may come into contact with other surfaces of the tire or wheel in consequence of the deflation of the tire. The slits are prevailingly oriented in a direction perpendicular to the direction in which takes place the relative slidings between the contact surfaces. Each sidewall has a cross-section along meridian planes of such a shape that its section midline in the meridian plane has a convexity directed towards the tire inside and a flexional rigidity in the meridian plane such that the convexity does not change in direction even under normal operating inflation pressure. The flexional rigidity has a value which is smaller than that of the analogous rigidity of the remaining portions of the sidewall.

THE STRIPS ARE CAUSED TO FIRMLY ADHERE TO EACH OTHER IN A ZONE OF THE BREAKER STRUCTURE EXTENDING THE ENTIRE LENGHT AND A PORTION OF THE WIDTH OF THE ASSEMBLY. The process involves the formation of folds or corrugations in the starting material and the subsequent shaping of same into a nondevelopable form with an accompanying unfolding of the corrugations thereby providing the additional length of material needed to satisfy the nondevelopable form.
