    Abstract: A coupling has: a first coupler rotatable about an axis and defining first connections distributed about the axis; a second coupler defining second connections distributed about the axis, the second connections offset from the first connections; and segments distributed about the axis and extending radially from the first connections to the second connections, a segment of the segments having a first end engaging a first connection of the first connections and a second end engaging a second connection of the second connections, the first end circumferentially offset from the second end, a face of the segment abutting against a face of the first coupler when the segment is inserted into the first connection in a first orientation such that a penetration depth of the segment into the first connection in the first orientation is less than the penetration depth in a second orientation opposite the first orientation.

    Abstract: A cooling system for a gas turbine engine comprises a closed circuit containing a change-phase fluid, at least one heat exchanger configured to receive a first coolant from a first engine system for the change-phase fluid in the closed circuit to absorb heat from the first coolant, whereby the cooling system is configured so that the change-phase fluid at least partially vaporizes when absorbing heat from the at least one heat exchanger. The closed circuit has a cooling exchanger adjacent to an annular wall of a bypass duct, the cooling exchanger configured to be exposed to a flow of cooling air in the bypass duct for the change-phase fluid to release heat to the cooling air and condense at least partially, the cooling exchanger having conduits configured to feed the vaporized change-phase fluid from a heat exchange with the at least one heat exchanger to the cooling exchanger, and to direct condensed change-phase fluid by gravity from the cooling exchanger to the at least one heat exchanger.

    Abstract: A method of diffusing and cooling an exhaust flow in an exhaust duct of a gas turbine engine includes circulating the exhaust flow from a turbine section of the gas turbine engine to a recuperator extending within the exhaust duct, circulating air discharged from a compressor section to a combustor of the gas turbine engine through air passages of the recuperator, and cooling and diffusing the exhaust flow by circulating the exhaust flow through exhaust passages of the recuperator having a progressively increasing cross-sectional area and in heat exchange relationship with the air passages.

    Abstract: Systems and methods for delivering a buffer fluid to a shaft seal of a gas turbine engine are provided. An exemplary system includes, a buffer fluid source, one or more first conduits providing fluid communication between the buffer fluid source and the shaft seal along a first route, and one or more second conduits providing fluid communication between the buffer fluid source and the shaft seal along a second route different from the first route. A heat exchanger is also disposed along the first route to facilitate heat transfer between buffer fluid in the one or more first conduits and a cooling fluid.
