Abstract: This display device is provided with a display unit and a control unit. The display unit projects and reflects, onto a light-transmitting display medium, light expressing an image, to allow the image to be viewed, as a virtual image, by a user. The control unit performs first stereoscopic display processing for causing light respectively expressing a left-eye image and a right-eye image of an object to be displayed, to be projected in the display unit. As a result of this processing, the object to be displayed can be stereoscopically viewed in a three-dimensional image space by the user.

Abstract: This display device is provided with a display unit and a connection unit. The display unit reflects a naked-eye-stereoscopic display image onto a glass windshield. Abstract: This display device is provided with a display unit, a beam splitter, and a first mirror. The display unit emits a first image and a second image. The beam splitter has, incident thereon, the first image and the second image which are emitted from the display unit. The beam splitter transmits the incident first image and reflects the incident second image to project the first image and the second image on a display medium. The first mirror has, incident thereon, the first image which has been transmitted through the beam splitter. The first mirror reflects the incident first image to project the first image on the display medium.

Abstract: An image display apparatus, including: a light source which emits coherent light; a spatial modulation element which diffracts the coherent light by displaying a diffraction grating pattern corresponding to an input image and which displays a virtual image by the diffracted light; and a control unit which calculates a total brightness representing a sum total of brightnesses of all pixels of the input image, and controls at least one of the light source and the spatial modulation element in such a manner that, if the total brightness has decreased, the virtual image is displayed at a lower brightness than a reference virtual image displayed when the input image is used directly.

Abstract: A display device includes a video element and a parallax optical element. The video element projects, onto a windshield, a stereoscopic vision image in which a plurality of rectangular left-eye images and a plurality of rectangular right-eye images are alternately arrayed in a first array pattern. The parallax optical element is provided between the video element and the windshield and includes a plurality of separation parts arrayed in a lattice-like fashion and in a second array pattern; the separation parts separating the stereoscopic vision image into the left-eye images and the right-eye images. At least one of the first array pattern and the second array pattern is a nonuniform array pattern that conforms to a curved surface of the windshield.

Abstract: An image display device includes a light source which emits light, a display element which receives the light, from the light source for generating display light, a light guiding plate which causes the display light to propagate therein, an incident element which allows the display light from the display element to be incident into the light guiding plate, and a dynamic output diffraction element provided in the light guiding plate for outputting the display light to the outside of the light guiding plate. The dynamic output diffraction element includes dynamic diffraction segment elements configured such that a diffraction function of diffracting light is invalidated or validated by voltage application. The image display device further includes a control unit which controls the dynamic output diffraction element such that one dynamic diffraction segment element whose diffraction function is validated is selected each at a time from among the dynamic diffraction segment elements.
