Abstract: The present invention is intended to control the color temperature of white exhibited by a liquid crystal display device. White is produced when light waves emitted through pixels associated with three colors of red, green, and blue have maximum intensities. The amounts of light emitted through the respective pixels are controlled by differentiating the shapes of the pixel electrodes disposed at the respective pixels from one another. Thus, the color temperature of white is controlled. Otherwise, the shapes of interceptive films disposed at the respective pixels are differentiated from one another in order to control light waves emitted through the respective pixels. Thus, the color temperature of white is controlled. The interceptive film may be shaped like the pixel electrode. Otherwise, the interceptive film may be realized with an interceptive pattern other than that of the pixel electrode or one of openings bored in a black matrix.

Abstract: A liquid crystal display device in which a plurality of display panels are disposed so as to overlap each other and which displays an image on each of the plurality of display panels. The liquid crystal display device includes a first display panel; and a second display panel disposed so as to overlap the first display panel. The second display panel includes a first substrate on which a source line, a gate line, a thin film transistor, and an organic insulator are formed, a second substrate disposed opposite to the first substrate, and a liquid crystal layer disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate, a first spacer is formed in the first substrate to hold a distance between the first substrate and the second substrate. The first spacer and the organic insulator are made of a positive photosensitive resin.

Abstract: A liquid crystal display device includes: a first display panel displaying a color image; a second display panel that is disposed farther away from the observer with respect to the first display panel and displays a monochrome image; and an image processor that generates color image data and monochrome image data. The image processor includes an extension filtering unit that performs extension filtering on first monochrome image data, which is made monochrome using a maximum value in a value of each color expressing color information included in the input video signal. The extension filtering unit performs the extension filtering on the first monochrome image data using a large filter size in a larger luminance difference region, and performs the extension filtering on the first monochrome image data using a small filter size in a small luminance difference region.
