    Abstract: A dumbbell system is provided including a base weight member having a ring-shaped body and a handle extending across an opening in the ring-shaped body. A plurality of weight rings are adapted to be removably mounted to the base weight member in order to provide a compact dumbbell system which has the capability of providing several weight increments in a compact assembly. The dumbbell system is ideal for use in areas where space is limited. The dumbbell also provides for a unique balanced mass arrangement which alleviates undesired stresses on a user's wrist.

    Abstract: A rotatable apparatus includes a pair of rotatable members joined by a stress dissipating structure. The stress dissipating structure can be employed in a gear, sprocket, clutch or the like. In one aspect of the present invention, the stress dissipating structure includes an elastomeric material and a web which radially extend outward from the hub. In another aspect of the present invention, the stress dissipating structure includes a plurality of rotationally flexible spoke-like structures radially extending between the rim and the hub. In a further aspect of the present invention, corrugated spokes are used. An additional aspect of the present invention provides a stress dissipating structure employing various anti-buckling plate configurations. In still another preferred aspect of the present invention, the stress dissipating structure includes a plurality of rotatably deformable formations. Furthermore, the present invention provides a compressible washer stress reduction structure. In yet another aspect of the present invention, an external clutch mechanism together with an internal stress reduction system are employed.

    Abstract: A window lift mechanism for raising and lowering a window in a vehicle door includes a support bracket mounted to the window and a motor supported on the support bracket, wherein the support bracket permits the axial and rotational movement of the window relative to the support bracket. A pair of parallel, vertical racks are mounted to the door and are positioned immediately adjacent to the window. A worm gear is driven by a worm with a lead angle greater than seven degrees coupled to a motor. A clutch mechanism is utilized to prevent back drive of the worm/worm gear system. The worm gear is operatively coupled to a pinion gear with resilient shock absorbers that are provided with notched surfaces to accommodate for compression of the resilient material with an enclosed space.
