摘要： An aqueous cosmetic emulsion is provided that includes an isoparaffin and an alkyl phosphate salt wherein the relative ratio of isoparaffin to alkyl phosphate sale ranges from about 40:1 to 1:1. The combination of isoparaffin with alkyl phosphate salt provides an unexpected thickening effect and results in a non-greasy product relative to a mineral oil bearing formula.

摘要： A liquid delivery system comprises a tank containing a supply of a first liquid. A positive displacement pump operates to withdraw the first liquid from the tank via a suction conduit and to deliver a pressurized flow of the first liquid via a delivery conduit. An adjustable metering orifice in the delivery conduit serves to control the flow of the first liquid through the delivery conduit. A normally closed first valve located in the delivery conduit between the pump and the metering orifice is opened in response to a pressure of the first liquid exceeding a threshold level, and is operative when open to deliver the first liquid to the metering orifice at a substantially constant pressure. A bypass conduit communicates with the tank and with the delivery conduit at a location between the pump and the first valve. A second valve in the bypass conduit is adjustable to accommodate a controlled return flow of the first liquid from the delivery conduit to the tank, thereby modulating the pressure of the first liquid being delivered to the first valve.

摘要： A cosmetic composition is provided which includes at least one keratolytic agent and a combination of water-soluble and water-insoluble anti-irritancy agents in a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. Most effective is a combination of a C.sub.7 -C.sub.30 .beta.-hydroxy carboxylic acids such as salicylic acid with a C.sub.1 -C.sub.2 .alpha.-hydroxy carboxylic acid such as glycolic or lactic acids. The water-soluble anti-irritancy agent is preferably a salt of glycyrrhizinic acid. The water-insoluble anti-irritancy agent is preferably a-bisabolol, azulene or combinations thereof. Other performance components may include a C.sub.1 -C.sub.10 alkyl lactate and an antimicrobial agent such as a zinc or aluminum salt.
