摘要: A method for fabricating an electrochromic device having organic polymer substrates is described. Each substrate has a surface coated with an organic polymer primer coating onto which is deposited an electroconductive metal oxide film. An electrochromic material is deposited on one electroconductive film and a complementary electrochromic material is deposited on the other electroconductive film. The resultant two substrates are aligned with the electrochromic materials facing one another. A preformed sheet of an ion-conducting polymer is disposed between those electrochromic layers and the resulting sandwich autoclaved.

摘要: An electrochromic article comprising plastic substrates and a method for constructing such an article are disclosed wherein two plastic substrates are coated with a primer to adhere an electroconductive metal oxide film, onto which are deposited an electrochromic film and a complementary film respectively. The two coated plastic substrates are assembled to form a cavity into which is placed a solution of monomers which are polymerized to form an ion-conducting copolymer.

Describes also an electrochromic article, e.g., a plastic article such as a plastic lens, in which the aforedescribed iridium oxide film is paired with a cathodically coloring electrochromic film, such as tungsten oxide.

摘要: A method of depositing a nitrogen-containing electrochromic iridium oxide film by sputtering iridium in an atmosphere comprising oxygen and nitrogen is disclosed for use in producing a transparent electrochromic article. The article includes electroconductive films, e.g., ITO, on two substrates, one of which has a superimposed electrochromic film, e.g., tungsten oxide, and the other of which has superimposed the iridium oxide film of the invention. An ion conductive layer between the electrochromic films completes the article.

摘要: A method for sealing the circumferential edge region of a laminated electrochromic device is disclosed. The method involves cutting a circumferential groove into the edge region of the device at the ion-conducting interface of its substrates. Sealant is then applied to the groove. 摘要: A method and apparatus for controlling a charge/discharge voltage applied to an EC device to ensure that an appropriate voltage drop across the EC device is maintained during charge and/or discharge modes of operation. The appropriate voltage drop is determined with respect to a temperature measurement proximate the EC device. The charge level of the device is monitored using a coulomb counter circuit having a topology designed to minimize interference in the operation of the EC device.

摘要: The present invention relates to a sulfur-containing polyureaurethane and a method of preparing the polyureaurethane. The sulfur-containing polyureaurethane has a refractive index of at least 1.57, an Abbe number of at least 32 and a density of less than 1.3 grams/cm3 when cured. The sulfur-containing polyureaurethane is prepared by the reaction of: (a) a sulfur-containing, isocyanate functional polyurethane prepolymer derived from: (i) a polyisocyanate; and (ii) a polythiol oligomer produced by the reaction of at least two or more different dienes with one or more dithiols and in certain embodiments at least one trifunctional or higher-functional polythiol; and (b) an amine-containing curing agent.
