Abstract: In a probabilistic amplitude shaping (PAS) system, a distribution matching (DM) component may receive a uniform bit sequence with equal probabilities, which may be converted into symbols with a desired probability distribution (e.g., Gaussian). For example, the probability distribution may use inner constellation points associated with a lower energy and/or power more frequently and outer constellation points associated with a higher energy and/or power less frequently. In general, the DM component may map binary bits to positive amplitudes with a non-uniform distribution according to a DM rate that is based at least in part on a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), which may vary significantly in a spatial and frequency selective wireless channel. Accordingly, some aspects described herein relate to configuring DM parameters and codeword and resource mappings in a spatial and frequency selective wireless channel.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described in which a receiving device, such as a base station or user equipment (UE), may receive an input signal that is modulated according to a probabilistic amplitude shaping (PAS) modulation technique. The receiving device may determine an associated channel noise estimate and may scale the input signal and the channel noise estimate based on a probability distribution parameter that is associated with the PAS modulation. The receiving device may demap the modulation constellation of the input signal based on the scaled input signal and the scaled channel noise estimate and provide one or more bits associated with the PAS modulated constellation. The probability distribution parameter may be estimated at the receiving device, or the transmitting device may provide the probability distribution parameter to the receiving device.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described to support replacing values of one or more information bit vectors with one or more corresponding sets of parity bits. A first wireless device may replace an information bit vector with a parity bit vector, using a set of information bits of the information bit vector and based on a parity check matrix, which may result in generating the set of information bits at an information bit vector corresponding to a parity bit column of the parity check matrix, during encoding. The first wireless device may perform a transmission to a second wireless device, which may receive the transmission, decode the set of information bits to the information bit vector corresponding to the parity bit column. The second wireless device may replace other bit estimates of a vector corresponding to an information bit column with the set of information bits.

Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) may select a weight vector, from a plurality of stored weight vectors, for enabling a spatially multiplexed communication, between a transmitter and a receiver, that includes two or more layers for each polarization of a plurality of polarizations for the spatially multiplexed communication. The RIS may receive the spatially multiplexed communication from the transmitter. The RIS may transmit the spatially multiplexed communication to the receiver in accordance with the weight vector. Numerous other aspects are described.

Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a first node may transmit a set of first values indicating a first estimated value at the first node and a first reliability value associated with the first estimated value, the set of first values being based at least in part on channel state information (CSI) associated with the first node and a set of user equipments (UEs). The first node may receive, from a set of second nodes, a set of second values indicating a second estimated value at the second node and a second reliability value associated with the second estimated value. The first node may transmit, to the set of second nodes, a set of third values indicating a third estimated value at the first node and a third reliability value associated with the third estimated value. Numerous other aspects are described.

Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a first wireless communication device may encode real samples of data to obtain encoded data based at least in part on adding one or more time domain complex samples to the real samples of the data, wherein a function of the one or more time domain complex samples is a known value, and wherein the function is a sum of exponentials of the one or more time domain complex samples. The first wireless communication device may transmit, to a second wireless communication device, the encoded data. Numerous other aspects are described.
