In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may compare an external list of ping pong handovers or redirections that is maintained by an access point, and an internal list of ping pong handovers or redirections that is maintained by the UE. The UE may identify a ping pong detection criterion, for a handover or redirection between a first network node and a second network node, based, at least in part, on the external list, the internal list, both the external list and the internal list, or neither of the external list nor the internal list indicating a previous ping pong handover or redirection between the first network node and the second network node. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may disconnect from a first radio access technology (RAT) service, independent of signaling from the first RAT service, after sensing that the UE has entered a coverage hole. The UE may use a connection to a second RAT service while in the coverage hole in association with disconnecting from the first RAT service. The UE may disconnect from the second RAT service, independent of signaling from the second RAT service, after sensing that the UE has exited the coverage hole and before expiration of a radio link failure (RLF) timer for the second RAT service. The UE may reconnect to the first RAT service before expiration of an RLF timer for the first RAT service. Numerous other aspects are described.

Abstract: A configuration is disclosed to enable a UE to preempt SRVCC by triggering a handover to a Wi-Fi network. The apparatus determines whether a Wi-Fi cell is viable as a first target cell, from a plurality of target cells, serving the UE to continue the active transmission on the Wi-Fi cell. The apparatus extends a TTT timer length based at least in part on the determination that the Wi-Fi cell is viable as the target cell serving the UE to continue the active transmission on the Wi-Fi cell. The apparatus initiates a handover to the Wi-Fi cell from the first network prior to the expiration of a TTT timer and prior to the first network initiating a handover to a second target cell, from the plurality of target cells, on a second network.

Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatuses for measurement of cells and determination of a non-standalone (NSA) coverage status using an NSA coverage database. The NSA coverage database may indicate candidate frequencies of New Radio (NR) cells that provide NSA coverage corresponding to a given Long Term Evolution (LTE) serving cell. The NSA coverage database may also indicate whether a system information block 1 (SIB1) has been previously received on a candidate frequency. The user equipment (UE) may perform measurement of candidate frequencies using the NSA coverage database, and may identify cases where a cell not providing NSA coverage has a same candidate frequency as a cell providing NSA coverage using the indication of whether SIB1 has been previously received on a candidate frequency.
