Abstract: A process for the reuse of oilfield drilling waste with an natural affinity for oil which has had at least a portion of the contaminants removed using a remediation technology. The drilling waste can be further refined to ensure the waste meets a desired particle size distribution and thereafter sent for reuse by mixing the drilling waste with hot bituminous tar and thereafter using the liquids phase in roofing materials. A method of mixing the drilling waste with conventional fillers is also described to create a blended mixture of drilling waste and conventional fillers to create a new hybrid filler which is mixed with hot bituminous tar for use in roofing materials.

Abstract: A gas tight shale shaker for enhanced drilling fluid recovery and drilled solids washing. A process and apparatus for liquid phase-solid phase separation of oil base drilling mud-containing drill cuttings is described including flowing the drilling mud-containing drill cuttings over a vibrating screen bed to cause a least a portion of the drilling mud to pass through the screen bed and the drill cuttings to remain on the screen bed. A diluent is added to the oil base drilling mud containing drill cuttings prior to flowing the drilling mud containing drill cutting over the screen bed. The entire process is performed in a gas-tight environment preventing escape of diluent from the process into the external atmosphere and preventing introduction of gases into the process from the external atmosphere.

Abstract: A process for removing hydrocarbons and water from hydrocarbon and/or water containing drilling waste. Abstract: A process for removing free liquids from oil base mud contaminated drill cuttings waste. A process is described wherein a high gravity centripetal separator and low temperature thermal process are cooperatively used to enhance the mechanical and thermal separation methods, resulting in improved efficiency of the hydrocarbon and water removal process. A process is also described wherein the oil base mud contaminated drill cuttings waste is heated to strip volatile constituents and excess water from the oil base mud contaminated drill cuttings to further enhance the mechanical and thermal separation methods resulting in improved efficiency of the hydrocarbon and water removal process. A conventional stripping process for oil base mud is also utilized.

Abstract: A horizontal decanter centrifuge for enhanced recovery of drilling mud from drilling mud solids. Oilfield decanters will always suffer some drilling mud losses because they can only achieve a certain effectiveness with respect to solids dryness. The embodiment describes a process to mitigate the financial burden of drilling mud losses by adding a less expensive sacrificial fluid to take the place of drilling mud in the solids phase. A process and apparatus for drilling mud displacement is described including flowing the drilling mud into a horizontal decanter centrifuge, wherein the stresses imposed within the decanter act to force a sacrificial fluid to displace the drilling mud. The embodiment also describes a process wherein vapours or mist are prevented from escaping and becoming airborne into the external atmosphere.
