Such a subset may be determined based, at least in part, on a bounded region in an electronic map of the indoor environment. Such a bounded region may, for example, have a shape and/or a size based, at least in part, on at least one parameter indicative of a motion state of the mobile device.

In some embodiments, the method may comprise extracting features, which may include entryways and structural elements, from an electronic map. Based on the extracted features, one or more hallways may be identified in the electronic maps by using one or more line segments, which may extend between at least one entryway and one or more structural elements, and/or at least one entryway and one or more other entryways. The electronic map may be updated with one or more annotations identifying the one or more hallways.

Briefly, in accordance with at least one implementation, a method may include transmitting a first message to a mobile device, the first message comprising abbreviated positioning assistance data; receiving a second message from the mobile device, the second message comprising an indication of a coarse location of the mobile device; and transmitting a third message to the mobile device, the third message comprising a detailed tiled radio heat map obtained based, at least in part, on the received indication of the coarse location of the mobile device.
