Abstract:
The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for the treatment of water and, in particular, an apparatus and method which may be applied to fluids such as grey water to be treated prior to discharge. The invention is intended for particular use on marine vessels such as house boats to treat grey water which at present is discharged untreated.
Abstract:
A water line freeze protection system consisting of first and second branch pipes extending from a water service pipe, a water holding tank, a metering orifice between the first branch pipe and the holding tank, a pump and a check valve between the holding tank and the second branch pipe, the check valve permitting flow of water only in the direction from the pump to the second branch pipe, a float and switch secured to the holding tank to activate the pump at an upper water level and deactivate the pump at a lower water level, and an overflow pipe from the holding tank to pass water from the holding tank into a drain when the pump is none operational.

Abstract:
An authentication server and a method of enabling a user of a communications capable device to make a payment via a mobile operator billing system are described. The authentication server determines a user identifier string for sending to a communications capable device according to a probability of successful entry by a user. The user identifier string is linked to the content item data and the string sent to the communications capable device. The user responds, via a mobile network, by sending a short message service (SMS) based user response. The response is compared to previously transmitted user identifier messages, and billable user identity data appended to the SMS by the mobile network can be used to associate the transaction in process with billable identity data derived from the carrier data to enable a user's mobile phone account to be billed for the purchase.
Abstract:
In a three tier client-server architecture, an universal application (UAP) server providing a middle or second tier between a third tier of application servers and a first tier of client devices to provide the controlled delivery of computer based application programs running on a set of application servers to a number of users using a wide variety of client devices without requiring the installation of software on, or changes to the application servers or application programs. The UAP server or application broker comprises a status manager engine, a session manager engine, a data store, a data store engine, a web server, and multiple instantiations of protocol engines design for a given application type and multiple instantiations of display engines for downloading to and operating on client devices. The UAP server provides: (1) means to support standard graphics based computer applications connected to clients of varying capability via a network of varying bandwidth and latency by automatically varying the type and number of graphic requests and their networking encoding to provide near optimum performance while maintaining the correct visual representation, (2) automatic construction of user worktops based on user data contained in a datastore, (3) loading balancing of application servers upon application launch and (4) resumable connections to client devices.
Abstract:
A drain valve insert employs a stamped sheet metal body to support a threaded nut in an elevated position over the drain opening of a filter cartridge. Multiple fluid flow passages are defined between the polygonal periphery of the nut and the generally cylindrical sheet metal body of the insert. The insert body defines ledges to support the nut at its periphery corners and includes structures that prevent rotation of the nut relative to the insert body. Retaining arms project upwardly from the insert body and are bent over the nut to axially retain the nut seated against the ledges. The insert body and the nut are inexpensively formed in separate automated operations. Assembly of the nut into the insert body may also be automated.
Abstract:
The magnetic separator has a tank with a pair of dual conveyor chains, spaced apart, at opposite sides of the tank. A plurality of frames with spaced apart magnetic rods are suspended from the conveyor chains in a manner allowing the frames to swivel and always hang vertically as the chains traverse their endless path. The liquid in the tank flows through the frames and ferrous particles are attracted to the magnetic rods. The rods are cleaned and the ferrous particles removed at a wiping station. Each frame has a scraping edge which contacts the bottom of the tank and drags out the non-magnetic particulate which has separated from the liquid.
Abstract:
An apparatus for filtering machine coolant which includes a filtering belt conveyor having a series of bars on the outer surface of the filtering belt conveyor. The filtering belt conveyor is located inside of a tank along with a separate drag conveyor which removes fines that are sprayed off the filtering belt conveyor. There is a partition in the tank between the filtering belt conveyor and the separate drag conveyor.
Abstract:
A filtration apparatus designed to remove solid contaminants from a liquid includes an endless filtration belt located in a liquid tank, so that liquid flows through minute openings in the belt into a liquid collection box located within the belt envelope. Edge areas of the belt are engaged with annular support walls carried by the tank side walls, such that a continuous seal is provided against migration of contaminants around the belt side edges. Contaminants collecting on the belt surface can be periodically removed by moving the belt across a spray system that dislodges the contaminants from the belt into the tank. A drag conveyor removes contaminants from the tank.
