    摘要: A flashing beacon may include a signal unit, a control unit associated with the signal unit, a solar panel or collector, and an activation device that may all be mounted or otherwise positioned on a post of a roadway sign. Light units associated with the signal unit may be programmed to flash on and off in a unique wig-wag pattern. Further, a light bar may also be used with the beacon to generate an intense flash of light soon after activation of the beacon as an additional means of grabbing the attention of the operator of a vehicle.

The gateway interface may automatically update a configuration, heal bugs, and perform other maintenance and tasks to manage the customer premise equipment. Multiple gateway interfaces or products or services associated therewith may be configured at one premise and version control may be maintained to ensure compatibility.

    摘要: A residential HVAC system includes a heat pump having a compressor arranged to heat a domestic hot water vessel and to heat or cool a storage vessel which is connected to a heat exchanger within the residence. Temperature sensors are provided at critical locations throughout the system and current and voltage sensors are coupled to the power lines feeding the residence. A microprocessor controls the operation of the compressor and other components of the heat pump system in response to measured tempertures, in response to the level of energy supplied to the residence and in response to the existence of on- or off-peak time intervals to operate the compressor and/or resistive heating elements to condition the hot water and storage vessels for subsequent use and to control an interior fan to condition the space. Operation of the compressor is controlled during on-peak intervals as a function of the resident's life style as reflected in power usage and requested comfort level.

    摘要: A distress light and signal system including a light adapted to be anchored in the ground in proximity to a road passing by a house. The light includes a switch for selectively actuating the light in an emergency from within the house and is powered by a solar collector and a rechargeable battery. Information is retained at a location remote from the house including directions for use by a person responding to the emergency. The system includes immediate retrieval of the information upon notification of the existence of an emergency at the house. With these features, a person responding to an emergency may reach the house rapidly by visually locating the light upon reaching the vicinity of the house.
